http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/sunderland-afc-director-to-leave-club-1-8293933 Sunderland AFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson is to leave the club. Mr Hutchinson, who has been on the board of directors for the last five years as part of his 17-year stint at the club, will leave the Stadium of Light in the new year to take on a new role. He said: "I have been offered an exciting opportunity to embark on the next stage of my career, which I am really looking forward to. "Of course I am saddened to leave behind some wonderful colleagues, friends and clients, but I will take so many positive memories and incredible experiences with me. "I would like to sincerely thank Ellis Short, Martin Bain and Angela Lowes for their support and friendship during my time at the club and everyone I have worked alongside during my 17 eventful years. "I have been a Sunderland supporter all my life and I will continue to follow the club with tremendous pride. I wish David and the team, along with everyone associated with Sunderland, the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and beyond." Sunderland AFC chief executive, Martin Bain, said: "On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank Gary for his hard work and dedication during his time at Sunderland. "He leaves with our sincere good wishes and we hope he enjoys success in his new role." Mentioned this a while ago. Just confirmed. The clearout continues. Who`s next? Brace The Scruff?
Is this the same bloke who gets the concerts on every summer? Might explain why theres nothing been mentioned for next year. Some concerts will be on tho. You heard it here first.
Not a big surprise really - looks like they're knocking the summer concerts on the head which is the biggest string to his bow so leaves him little to organise, plus our non-transfer commercial income hasn't grown much in the past 5 years. Wish Gary all the best with whatever he moves on to as I think he's been a real force for good in the wider Sunderland re-generation story.
The concerts seem to be his main thing. Difficult to say whether there was much profit in it. Maybe after all the costs were taken out there wasn`t a vast sum left for the club. The next step I suppose will be to bring in someone with a much wider field of experience and expertise.
Hopefully he will be next. Bains will get rid of the rotten core then Ellis will sack him and bring Niall back.
I have a feeling it might not be long. When Moyes was banished to the stands it was Stockdale who took over the touchline duties and we were better for it than that miserable tramp sitting there. Not sure he needs to be replaced tbh. edit: who`s taken over from McNamee do we know?
I could go on for pages about the mis-management of the club at board level and the the down right useless ****s responsible but it's Christmas so I'll just say I'm glad he's gone we need better!
Its much for my sake as the forums Gil it's a something's that's really frustrates me especially as Newcastle's pr and marketing, in my opinion, is excellent. Yes it's cringeworthy to us but they know their audience and mags eat that **** up. With FFP now it's like we are fighting with one hand behind our back because the club have taken fans for granted rather than trying to entice more in. So you look at who's been in charge in crucial executive positions over the years and I have a few times, I can't remember all the infuriating details but one that I always remember is a guy called Ryan Sachs who we know held a few roles while here. On his LinkedIn profile he bragged about being the man who signed Ji. We are a club playing in the richest, best league in the world I wouldn't be surprised if executives at other clubs could have you assassinated such is their level of influence but friends have been given jobs they could handle and never regulated properly and if anything it highlights just how little Short has cared seemingly until now.
