TBF Burmese what did you expect?! top strikers will always been in demand, and as long as a premership club is involved they will always be favourites to sign the player......we need to pick up a prem striker who needs to kick start his career, like Yakubu did. Sven will get some one dont worry.
We have had to compete with clubs for most of our signings Danns was wanted by Hull, Celtic and Rangers Mills was wanted by Wolves, Stoke and WBA Nugent, Ipswich and loads of prem teams Johnson, Leeds
Just to reiterate I was not desperate to get Long at all, I would simply prefer him to Jong, Jerome and some of the other **** players we've been linked with. What I am desperate for is a striker and a winger, we need at least one of those and our options are depleting every day. Long's another one to bite the dust, I suspect Sven is running out of options now. I say go back to Bristol with a £5m bid whilst explaining to them why they need the money!

No. But he did last season, so why wouldn't he possibly get anything wrong this season? People make mistakes, that doesn't mean he's a **** manager or that I don't think he's made the right moves so far this season. I'm just saying what we all know, we're running out of quality strikers to buy. You think I want us to just bring in 'a body'? Of course I don't, I've said there are strikers that I don't want, strikers who we've been linked with, some of which Sven has declared an interest in. We might not be able to afford a mistake like bringing in the wrong striker in a league as competitive as this, so of course I'm concerned.
Looks liek it might be Derbyshire... If there was ever the ultimate anticlimax then this has to be it.
Just wanted to say i cant believe earnshaw chopra.. sure theres a few more werent on our radar. Long in my opinion is too young to spend 7 mil on. He could be **** in the pl then what? If i was manager im sure i could make a list of 5 talents in the ranges of 2-3 mil each. Is jack leicester too old? I wanted kevin philips.. 7 mil.. ****
Long's going to West Brom so I wouldn't worry about the £7m anymore. I'm more worried about Anichebe, Jerome and Derbyshire
I hope we get someone in, Vassell playing on the wing isn't right, not because he was sent off, but because it bugged me last season too. Play him centre or don't play him at all! The right striker will come, in Sven we trust
Summers like this are like a drug addiction. You just can't wait for your next hit, and the more expensive or well known a player then the bigger the high. But...in the real world...all we need is a striker who will compliment what we already have and score a few goals. It doesn't even have to be 20. Derbyshire might not provide a post-signing high for supporters but let's wait and see what he can do on the pitch. That will provide more long lasting satisfaction. Junkies!!!
