ILD, I honestly wish I lived closer and could afford to attend, it would give me great pleasure!
But it would ILD, it really would, I've attended regularly when I was much younger and we were getting stuffed by much lesser teams than we face today, my affection and excitement never wavered. That's why I struggle to understand how today's fans turn vitriolic so quickly!
What was the season in the Championship, we got stuffed 2 games in a row. I am pretty sure it was Port Vale and West Brom. When West Brom were a nothing championship team, scraping survival. I think it was 5-0 and 6-0.
Those were hard days to sit through. Still did it!I'll never forget that. A few seasons later, I experienced the exact opposite. My Dad took us to a game because it was kids for a quid. I think we won 5 or 6-0. So the next game was home again, I was so buzzing after the last game, I begged him again, he took us. It was 5 or 6-0. I'm pretty sure one game might have been someone like Swindon, and one might have been someone like Huddersfield.
