BRITAIN looks set to prosper when it leaves the European Union after ministers revealed a record number of foreign investment deals had been struck in the months since Brexit. The latest figures provide evidence that Britain looks set to thrive outside the bureaucratic Brussels bloc. The Government said 2,213 inward investment projects were secured between July and Novemeber 2016 – a staggering 11 per cent increase from the previous year. International Trade Secretary Liam Fox boasted that Britain remains the "number one destination in Europe for investment". He said: “We’ve broadened our reach with emerging markets across the world to cement our position as the number one destination in Europe for investment. “This continued vote of confidence in the UK will help attract foreign investment to create jobs, security and opportunities for people across the UK.” Dr Fox also revealed the inward investment secured in the last financial quarter of this year have created or protected at least 116,000 jobs – the second highest figure on record. The US was the largest investor in Britain, funding a total of 570 projects. China and Hong Kong invested in 156 plans, while India will fund 140 schemes While Britain cannot formally enter trade talks with other foreign nations, Downing Street sources expect to have informal talks with world leaders at the G20 meeting in Hangzhou, China, which started on Sunday. Despite Project Fear predicting a post-Brexit slump, consumer spending rose in July. We then saw a record August spend and even higher figures in September , October and November. Glory I'm starting to suspect we're taking part in a testing programme for a new form of artificial intelligence. They've called it lifecheshirewhite and got it signed on to not606 making randomised answers to anything posted here. AI is still an imperfect science (as we can tell) but you've got to take your hat off to the developers, it's taken a while for us to spot it. A lot of the answers are perfectly human in structure and style, it's only the part about making any ****ing sense that's still eluded them.
