Hi all, What would be your ideal starting 11 for next season, this is mine:- GK: Begovic DL: Figueroa DR: Wilkinson DC: Huth DC: Shawcross ML: Etherington MR: Pennant MC: Noble MC: Palacios or Jenas ST: Jones ST: Obinna Subs Sorro Higgy Larsson Wilson Whitehead Walters Fuller Delap for me used only as backup, time we moved on imo, love the guy and would not sell him, Fuller would def keep as impact sub (and Delap on occasions i suppose), would rotate Seb Larsson with Pennant to keep the latter on his toes, don't think we will get Figueroa but thats my choice for LB.
Begovic Hutton Huth Shawcross Warnock Pennant Noble Parker Etherington Sturridge Demba Ba Subs Sorensen Wilson Higginbotham Larsson Walters Agbonlahor Jones
great team sgt, i would like a lot of them players to, but me being the pessimist that i am i just dont think we will get them, lol, Ba i would like here especially but with him saying hes glad his move to us fell through dont think he would come to us now for sure. http://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/6811046/Ba-has-no-Stoke-regrets
We'll get very few of them, but that would be my team in an ideal world. I don't think he'll come either but he's on a free is Demba Ba so we'd be fools not to at least try and sign him.

Delap That team has to be the best EVER 11 Stoke player's on the same pitch. They would give ANY of today's Prem teams a good game and most of them. They would beat with ease. Happy day's Wembley 72
Im sorry to say although ther WERE LEGENDS in their own time if they played even one of the poorer sides in the prem they would be beaten as the game has moved on massively since those years. Fitness and skill have improved massively and the speed of the hame has increased massively. These are the reasons why IMO you can never compare teams of years gone by to nowadays, like its always going to be hard to compare Maradonna to messi........different time different level. They are Legends and will always be remembered for their skill in their respective time.
You are right of course Ric, no use comparing yesteryears teams with modern day but both the '62 promotion team and the '72 Wembley teams were brilliant line-ups. I had a particular favourite in Denis Viollet, as a young supporter, as he was the most skillful player I had seen at the time - matched later by Jimmy Greenhoff Back on topic, the various wish list teams would be good to see at the Brit (though not Joey Barton IMO - I would not have in in any team!). We'll see who TP eventually brings in during the coming weeks.
