I agree with Exeter Gas...don't go back! Conflicting tales here. Cureton has been seen at Rovers very recently, but when I was in Devon on Saturday the local paper was saying he had an offer of an extended contract from Exeter which he was considering. If he did come it could be to 'replace' Kuffour rather than play alongside.
Bloody hell you guys are getting desperate. How olds Cureton now?? and he was never that good when he was young and fit! We can lend you Lee Jhonson if you like?
Over 200 career goals, including over 70 for Rovers, and 17 goals in just 30 appearances for Exeter! One of the best records around... I think Cureton is probably a luxury - he won't come cheap, but he won't be able to play week in and week out.
the word on the street her in exeter is that he will not sign for the gas he,s happy to see out his playing days with exeter....a good thing imo
think it would be a mistake to get him anyway. we should be looking at getting players who were top league scorer in this league last season donaldson from crewe. he knows this league well. if we want to go up 1st time we need 2 strikers who can score 45 goals between them and a 3rd striker who can get 10 goals plus. i dont think cureton could do this now. he would be good as a 4th striker but not someone we need tbh.
agree with you captain jack, i was thinking of scott mcgleish from orient on a free. probly same as cureiton though think donaldson wont come to us prob champ or div 1
i thought the same with lambert not leaving us for the same league as good enough for championship football or even prem with stoke, bolton or blackburn. think he would do well for them 2 seasons back when he left us. but he went to the saints in our league. who knows with donaldson. i think a lot of clubs will see us being a team who can go up this season so he may fancy being apart of this new regime
What's Walker up to nowadays?? Did the business for us in that division last time out. Probably past it now though eh?
Fresh talk from Buckle today about Jamie Cureton. We really need to be looking past Jamie Cureton. Good when he was with us but we need to be building for the future and getting players that are gonna have the legs to last in League 1 in a years time.
Still don't think it's a good idea....some people are rewriting history, but when he left us he wasn't everybody's darling (and I don't mean Dunford!). His reception back here has always been cool. If signed it should be on a one year contract...can't see him being of use beyond that. Mind you, if he signs and scores a hattrick against AFC Wombledon I'm quite prepared to be a hypocrite and sing Buckle's praises!
I think we need to remember we are now a league 2 side. Cureton scored 20 goals last year in league 1, isnt that the same as Hoskins!!! How many did Joe score? I know who i would rather have.
