Why i only support "english" football teams

Best certainly makes the grade, footballing genius, up there with Pele...Maradonna and Messi couldn't hold a candle to him...

i'd rate George Best as probably the best footballer ever...

Don't agree about Messi not holding a candle to Best, I see Messi every week and he too is a genius and don't forget that he is still very young and has his best years ahead of him!!!

 

Spanish, all very true, but i'd take into consideration the fact that in George Best's day, defenders were allowed to get away with a whole lot more than they are now, the pitches Best played on were probably not as good as the pitches today, and i don't think i've ever seen footage of Best taking a dive...

at the end of the day it's all subjective and a matter of opinion, but for me, George Best was probably the best footballer of my lifetime...

if only he had been born English!!

 

Messi's not a diver. He gets knocked around every game and gets straight back up and gets on with it.

Best was undoubtedly the best player to turn out in a Town shirt, and Pele has his Town connection for Escape To Victory and that beautiful song where he sings 'Ipswich Town is a footballing town'.
