As a Liverpool this has always been something that really annoys me. 99% of the Liverpool fans I know are under know illusions As a Liverpool this has always been something that really annoys me. 99% of the Liverpool fans I know are under know illusions about the current state of the club and none I know have any realistic expectations that we are anywhere near good enough to challenge for the title. Of course like fans of other teams you will get the odd delusional idiot but from my experience they are in a minority. Yes we do mention our history a fair bit but itâs a fantastic history that we should be proud of. It seems sometimes that people just expect us to accept that we are a midtable team and that it wrong to aspire to be top of the table again. I just donât see what makes us any more delusional than any other fans
One person who supports a big club said it and then all the supporters of small clubs copy it like sheep, just like the Suarez booing.
I would say THFC fans are more delusional than Arsenal, they seem to think they are a European power.
In fact I was actually say that a lot of Liverpool fans are overly negative about the state of the club which is the opposite of being deluded
You have to consider that what some call delusion may actually be a football supporter having a posative outlook and actually going into a season with hope and belief that his team can do well. If you don't do that why bother watching football.
not bothered what rival fans think, just like we get the bollocks we always say next year is our year. i know some of us now say it, but more in taking the piss, i doubt any genuinely believe it, i have never seen a Liverpool fan ever claim we are going to win the league yet that gets thrown at us all the time as well, well certainly after finishing 2nd we thought we might and rightly so, but we had owners at the time who are probably the biggest cocks ever to run a football club and didn't back the manager and strengthened when we had the chance to, but since then we have been ****e in all honesty, but the future looks positive. onwards and upwards YNWA
I'm old enough to remember a time when it was standard for us to say we'd win it next season. However, the word 'again' used to fit neatly in there as well
Yeah in fairness after finishing 2nd in 2009 it was the first time in long time that I was quietely confident that we might have an outside chance. Unfortunatey we lost Alonso and replaced him with an injured player and it has all went down hill from then
Lost Arbeloa, JOhnson got injured, Torres was on and off with injury and players who were in form a year ago were suddenly out of form. Insua was thrown in at LB as well and really struggled.
Add to that relying heavily on Ngog to fill in for Torres, dodgy transfers and to top it all off the growing problems behind the scenes which were the real downfall of the club. Two cowboys gambling with the clubs future and a manager who was increasingly distracted by trying to battle them.
Ya, in all the books by carra, stevie, rafa, epic swindle it is clear that rafa really took his eye off the field and tactics and was trying to fight the good fight ( fair play to him) but got carried away in the battle with the owners.
Why? Because they are jealous that we are just one player short of getting the quadruple for next year. 114 points in 2013/2014... you read it here first.
