Who are the worst team to have graced the Premier League?

    Hello everyone!

    In light of the current Sunderland team who have gone 11 hours and 15 minutes without scoring in the league covering 7 games - who do you think is the worst team to ever grace the Premier League?

    Sunderland's current goalless run is second only to Palace who went 9 games without scoring in the 1994/95 season.

    Sunderland sit bottom and are 10 points away from safety.

    Where do they stand in the worst teams ever?

    Does a player/manager of the past epitomise a particularly bad team?

    Have to say this current Sunderland team is totally lifeless though as well.

    Usually if a team is on a **** run its usually us that roles over pathetically.

    Derby conceded 89 goals that season.

    iirc Swindon held the record previous to '08, as the worst PL ever.

    EDIT: In fact it was Sunderland in '06 with a massive 15 points <laugh>

    Just looking at that Derby team in more depth and they also hold the record of most games without a win with 32!

    This run could increase should they ever make it back.

    Derby had the worst one off season but imho Sunderland are the worst team in general.
    Think they once got relegated with 15 points and once with 19 points. And in the last 4 seasons ( not included this one) they haven't got more than 39 points.
    In the past 5 seasons they have only won 40 games in total (an av of 8 wins per season) but have lost 88 matches (and there are still 7 matches left). Finally in the past 5 season they had managed to get just 174 points in 163 matches...approx 35 points per season. They have only scored 185 in the past 5 seasons (av 37 per season) but have conceded 285 goals (av 57 against) meaning they have averaged a minus 20 gd per season.
    Pretty **** all round.
