British photographer David Slater says he has been financially drained by the bizarre legal case over whether he, or the endangered crested black macaque, own the copyright to the photograph. In 2014, Wikipedia published one of the pictures without Mr Slater’s permission. But when he asked them to take it down, the website refused on the grounds that the copyright belonged to the animal. The US Copyright Office ruled that animals cannot own copyright but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sued Mr Slater in 2015. A f.ucking monkey has copyright to its image? PETA should stick to models walking around London Fashion Week covered in blood to protest against fur coats and not ruin a mans career on behalf of a monkey. If this was an April Fool then I have well and truly popped in.
Do tell us more? Why is it more complicated. So far you have just provided us with a basic fallacy but offered no reasoning as to why it is more complicated? I'm jen u ine lee interested. Thx M8.
Think Toby might actually be right for once People do own copyright to their own images, however, as way of example, it's much like creating a movie, you own the copyright to the film but do not own copyright to the locations etc, where you have to obtain permission to film or risk getting your arse sued off. Lawyers have a field day looking for copyright infringements all the time. Although people in a public place are not protected, I guess a monkey in the wild is
He claimed that animals had no rights. PETA got pissed off about it, you can't say **** like that. They're now suing him because he was acting like a dick.
Seen something the other day that had me thinking. An elephant who had been in captivity for years made a bold for it then was shot something like a hundred times. The picture you could see the poor Bastards face, the horror in his eyes ****ed my head up for a few days. Absolutely shocking stuff, brutal.
I had a pet rabbit as a kid. When you tried to pick it up and it didn't want to, you could honestly see fear in its eyes. Same with dogs, you can tell when a dog is sad or happy. Basically you can read emotions in any animal. Future generations will look back at our times and think we were ****ed for eating them.
