The home side will be favourites to pick up the victory, but it’s crunch time for David Moyes’ side as they bid to beat the drop. Honours are even since Watford were promoted back to the Premier League for the last campaign, with each side recording a single victory along with a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road on the final day of the season last May. Team News: Walter Mazzarri has a choice to make in defence, as his side have only kept one clean sheet in their last 21 games. Craig Cathcart could keep his place as the Hornets look to keep Jermaine Defoe quiet, while Troy Deeney will lead the line for the home team after his own goal gifted Crystal Palace the win last time out. Having scored 14 of his team’s 24 goals in the Premier League, Sunderland will be hoping Defoe returns from international duty refreshed and raring to go. The 34-year-old could see his strike partner Victor Anichebe return from the knee injury that he picked up against West Brom on 21 January, in what would be a major boost for beleaguered Moyes. We’re at the six-pointer stage of the Premier League season, and this game is crucial for both Watford and Sunderland. Both teams’ recent records are hugely underwhelming, with only three wins between them from their previous 24 games combined. Although they’re seven points clear of the drop zone, Watford are in danger of being sucked back into a relegation scrap. If they win this game, they’ll be increasingly confident of securing their top flight status for next season. However, defeat could mean the Hornets finish the weekend just four points clear of the bottom three. It’s now or never for David Moyes and his men, who are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table seven points from safety. One win in 11 is nothing if not relegation form, and they’ll be 14 points behind Watford if they lose on Saturday, giving them one less team to catch. ENJOY THE GAME WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE WORLD
Good luck to the Golden Boys, though I have some very good Mackem friends. I'd love to see them escape again but fear it is a step too far this year!
Not too sure that our Ref for this game is one that we would have picked. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...n_first_top_flight_appointment_for_two_years/
Not sure if it is good news or not but I can´t watch this one as need to go to CDMX. We have to win. I can´t see Sunderland making it easy mind they are more desperate for points than us. A draw doesn´t do much but isn´t fatal. If we lose, we are really going to be dragged into the mire and I can only see Watford surviving as there might be 3 worse teams - not that we´ll get out of it ourselves.
Must win - simple as. Players had a good 2 week break (well some of them..) Mind you they did before the Palace game..
One we should look to be positive in and go on the attack. Behrami is out which might force Walter into a more attacking selection..
Black Cat in peace. Well at least you don't have Luther Blissett playing on Saturday What is your expected team? Gomes, Cathcart, Prodl, Caboul, Britos, Amrabat, Cleverley, Doucore, Capoue, Niange, Deeney
Possibly Okaka for Deeney as apparently he has a tummy bug, otherwise I think you're spot on. 2-2 draw... or a 0-1 defeat. Not confident at all after the palarse debacle... not that Cabaye or Zaha should have been on the pitch by the time we scored for them, but that's a different story.
http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tom-cleverley-leaves-everton-fc-12826459 Well let's hope we celebrate this bit of news with three points. Cleverley must be confident we'll stay up - I couldn't see him signing a five year contract if he wasn't...
RTB I understand we might get Luther's papers processed in time. It would certainly add to the goal scoring confidence levels even at his age He still knows where the back of the net is. Something we seem to struggle with. But to be honest you guys scare me. I can see us losing this one. And I'm usually an optimist We need an early goal if not it is going to be a very tense game for us. And your guys may as well throw the kitchen sink at us. But have a good day whatever. It is after all only a game. C'mon u'orns
Team: Gomes; Cathcart, Kaboul, Britos, Holebas; Doucouré, Cleverley, Capoue; Amrabat, Okaka, Niang subs: Pantilimon (GK), Prödl, Mariappa, Zúñiga, Janmaat, Success, Deeney. You'd think Success's legs would fit enough start by now...
