well its official from all directions, the fans are doing a good job, the team responds and we need more of it. please log in to view this image Tammy Abraham has not played since limping off during 14 February's 2-1 loss at Leeds just 3 pts since The return of Bristol City's top scorer Tammy Abraham after nearly four weeks out with injury will be "like a new signing", says head coach Lee Johnson. The England Under-21 striker has netted 21 times in all competitions this term but returned to parent club Chelsea in February for treatment on his thigh. Abraham, 19, resumed training with the Robins on Thursday, ahead of Saturday's game at fellow-strugglers Wigan. "The players will get a massive boost," Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol. "He is almost like a new signing. Tammy will be like a jack-in-the-box at the moment, looking forward to getting back. "With a ball, he hasn't trained for a month. But he is young, athletic, mobile and should be able to deal with it. "The rest will have done him good in some ways, mentally. He's had a tough season. We'll try to judge it so we use him correctly." Johnson added that Abraham has a "decent chance" of featuring in the game against the 23rd-placed Latics, who are one point behind 22nd-placed City in the Championship table.
The worrying thing is how much game time will he, Tammy, be given? play first half? play second half? play last 15-20 minutes ? will it be Wilbs dropped from the bench? Wigan are pretty defensive, but also have shown they are very prudent with the number of goals they score makes for an interesting first 30 mins methinks
I think there's little doubt that they'll be particularly 'up' for this and look to win - their survival might depend upon it. I expect a tough game, with us either losing by the odd goal, or earning a score draw, after either of which, LJ will say 'it's fine because there are still plenty of games left', blah, blah, blah.
Match facts This is the first meeting between the sides at the DW Stadium since August 2002, when Wigan won 2-0 thanks to goals from Scott Green and Lee McCulloch. Bristol City are looking to record a league double over Wigan for the first time since the 1997/98 season. The Latics' last three home league games have all finished level, with the last two ending 0-0. The Robins are winless in their last 13 away league games (D3 L10), since a 4-0 win at Fulham in September. Wigan have used a league-high 39 different players in the Championship this season. Former Manchester United and Newcastle winger Gabriel Obertan started his first game for Wigan in their win at Birmingham .. number 39! Wigan's Max Power is definitely out with a hamstring injury, while fellow midfielder Sam Morsy is suspended. Shaun McDonald is back in contention for the Latics, who know a win will move them above their opponents and possibly out of the relegation places. Bristol City are waiting on the fitness of midfielder Gary O'Neil, who has had an injection to treat pain on his knee. But the Robins' top scorer Tammy Abraham could make his return from a thigh injury after four weeks out. Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol: "It is a game that we want to go and try to win. We can if we are at our best. The challenge is to be at our best. "We have got a side with a few different options on the bench now. Sometimes your substitutes can be the difference, and this could be such an occasion."
Can predict much of the outcome already, 4-5-1 starting formation with the inevitable defeat, I don't see us winning at either Wigan or Blackburn
I hope we win of course but if we lose, maybe it would be better to lose Royally rather than by the odd goal. Maybe something might just get done. I prefer 3 points and nothing be done but lets get the 3 points please
Pretty much how I would have picked it, Bristol City: Fielding, K.Smith, Flint, Wright, Bryan, Cotterill, O’Neil, Pack, Tomlin, Abraham, Taylor. Subs: Giefer, Magnusson, Hegeler, Brownhill, Reid, O’Dowda, Wilbraham. Read more at http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/...gside-taylor-3619247.aspx#fI864vDIVih6f6Mm.99
Yep, think we will actually win today with that selection. Providing he hasn't put Tomlin centre back or something ridiculous (wouldn't put it past him)
Definitely attacking intent, looks like we're playing 2-3-3-2 so expecting lots of goals from both sides
Yes!!! Great win. Listed on free view as can get Radio Bristol then. Sounded a tense game but well done for hanging on this time. Unbeaten in 3 and 5 points.
I've wanted LJ gone for some time now (since the Cardiff game) but to be frank LJ, shocking as he has been of late, can't possibly do worse than the clowns who have been managing England of late. Since Sir Alf, the most successful has been Bobby Robson (Italia 90) followed by Sven. Nobody else has got close to a trophy.
Well nearly was a draw! Well done Flinty for that last gasp and refreshing win. However EITHER Wigan have upped their quality of defense, our shooting was absolutely crap, or there were very few clean cut chances? 3pts that will help but Cloughie is doing wonders since the END OF JANUARY!
