I honestly think Rooney is now holding your club back, you take him out and put Mata in (for example) you have such a better balance to your team. Watching the game on Saturday, he ended up playing on the right wing ffs. Jose should either play him as a number 9 or 10, or drop him. The fact Jose has come out and said he'd only play as a 10 or 9, but then ends up anywhere on the pitch is odd. Forget the reputation, he's been a great player for your club. Jose and the new era need to drop him, seriously. Am I alone here? Do your Rooney tinted glasses need throwing away? Should he be dropped?
Rooney is not disciplined enough to play as second striker. In any event, I can only remember him having one direct shot on goal - some feeble attempt from 25 yds out. Case in point, in the last ten minutes of the game he was picking the ball up from near our own penalty box, he was the player nearest De Gea instead of being in the opposition box trying to pepper the goal. he was a great player, no doubt, but for whatever reason he is seriously our of condition and doesn't have the engine for 90 minutes in, what is now, a very dynamic side. He might have got away with it during LvG's tenure with his pedestrian style of play, but not now. Too many times our play has broken down as a direct result of Rooney's mistakes and more frequently, because of his poor positional discipline, those mistakes are happening deeper and deep into our own half giving the opposition opportunities to attack. For the wages the club is paying him he ought to be a world-class athlete at the top of his game - and he isn't. He needs to be dropped, go, or whatever - he is a liability and his meagre goal return and the odd 'hollywood' pass cannot disguise that fact.
Rooney looks like a 40 year old playing football. His brain still knows what to do but his legs aren't responding quickly enough. That's why he gets caught on the ball and misplaces passes so often.
It's as if he is permanently playing in a legends match - a few, odd glimpses of a faded talent but the engine that produced it has long gone.
Jose loves Wayne. You hate Jose and Wayne. Maybe you should support City. But you hate Pep too, and can't wait for him to be found out!!
Said with such authority! Don't think I've ever said I hate Pep. I'm sure you can prove otherwise though Deidre. I'll stick with United though if that's alright with you fella. I know you were bouncing around looking for another club last season but it's just not my style.
I don't think I've ever said that I hope Pep could get found out. Perhaps I said he might get found out as I don't think he's been tested yet in his managerial career. So far he's done well. Jose did well in the transfer market but ballsed up the derby. I think even a man with an ego as big as his will need time to come to terms with what it's like to manage the biggest club in England.
Fair enough. He did Ok against a very good Barca side in Spain. Do you think United's size affected his tactical judgement and the result v City?
Bit early to say this maybe but Pogba's already living up to what I said, NEVER BUY BACK. It hardly ever works.
Crazy isn't it? After a handful of games. That's how things are nowadays, football is watched and commented on by ****ing idiots.
Been away a few days. Putting it simply Fellaini is Mourhino's new John Obi Mikel. Limited, one-dimensional workman. Mourihno never saw Mikel as long-term starter. I doubt he does with Fellaini either. Right now he's using him for instant results which have worked so far. Clearly the City game was a stretch too far though. Btw I do wonder whether Mourinho is deliberately giving Rooney enough rope to hang himself. So when he finally moves the team on without him, the fans will support him.
