I think this article puts a different spin on De Fanti's time with us. He says he was just doing what Ellis wanted. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/17/roberto-de-fanti-sunderland-spending-paolo-di-canio
He had a decent season for them too. Perhaps shows up the standard of some of the Championship. Some good solid teams but often lacking genuine quality.
Probably but after seeing his very impressive debut against Man U thought Poyet had bagged a goodun - injuries and team struggles then held both him and Bridcutt back imo. As he's been off the radar for a good while he's (probably) lost his way. But glad positive action is starting - now we need incommings
Yeah but they are accomplished and experienced at championship level. I think if we were more successful they may have been successful - but there again if we had been successful would we have signed them - I doubt it. . a bit of a circular post this
Don't see it. Poyet bought them cause they suited his style. There's wasn't exactly competition to sign them. That style of play was short lived as was Poyet. None of them did anything and not one manager rated them, now they're back where they were. Everything points to them to being a Champ standard and no btter. **** em anyway, pair of nobodies who blew their chance to step up.
If Leeds go up - and they could - I would have thought Bridcutt was on the "thanks but you're being replaced now" list. He's not a standout player in the Championship.
Awful footballer. I think in the entirety of his time at Sunderland I saw him do one nice pass forward and that was the only solitary moment that I saw him do anything good. Kind of player that makes you think anyone could be a pro if they can get fit enough.
