The thing that annoys me about these cycle race things is that it tends to bring out all the fair weather cyclist, whole families sometimes, who then ride off down the roads, sparkling new bikes and crash hats, and cause trouble with their wobbling along checking to see if their offspring are all ok. I am an all year round cyclist, well when I was setting off for work at 4am for an early shift I had to be, no car by the way, and from choice. The professional lads, and lasses, pass me as though I am at a standstill but families out for a once a year ride are a bit of a nuisance as far as I'm concerned. The other weekend I was off across the Humber Bridge and along the south bank foreshore, some great stuff to see, nature reserves and wildlife parks, ending up at Barrow Haven, the weekend before was a ride to South Ferriby, some great cycle tracks on the South Bank.
Cycled up to Burton Agnes to catch an early bit (gone in less than 60 seconds ...) - then onto Scarborough to see the end - managed to get opposite the smallest 'big screen' I'd seen in ages - topped up with fish & chips for a re-fuel for the ride home. As we got there early enough we rode round the headland where the finish was - the 'flagstones' they crashed on were fairly horrendous to ride & we ended up going through the finishing stretch with loads of people cheering us / hitting those inflatable battens - it doesn't half make a row as you go through, at which point we realised we'd inadvertently 'crashed' a number of 'charidy & disabled' rides fishing off their sponsored rides ! . Just over 90 miles cycled & feeling it today.
We went to Harrogate on Saturday to watch them finish - it was absolutely rammed full. After the finish we walked back along the team buses to watch the warm down and the Aqua Blue Sport manager handed my Son and Daughter a bottle each off bike number 62 - they were chuffed. Well organised, but Harrogate as a finishing area doesn't lend itself well to that volume of spectators. Good event though.
angus young @angus_young61 Council leader Steve Brady says Hull is looking to submit expression of interest to be a host city for the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire.
Much ranting and raving because the race is not coming through Filey this time Mr Aberdeen Hope it's not because my dog barked her head off as the riders wizzed past. (She was of course we'll back from the road so I doubt they heard her) Thousands lined the route through Filey so it's a loss to the town
Can't think of any. Unless returning stolen property has become the vogue. It is a fair assumption that the may live here they weren't born here. Immigrants from more uncouth places like Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Barnsley, Hull...
