Anyone in Brid to watch the start? Not you Castro, you were there already. It seems ignoring the signs about not parking on the the route wasn't a very good idea... please log in to view this image
I'll expect nothing less than all the crowd standing, flares and smoke bombs going off and crowd size compared to a similar sized town on the Tour De France route.
Chazz going into comedian mode. And failing. Let's hope out of towners don't come in using our facilities before going home again.
Well...that settles that. A quesiton was asked, it was then answered. Everyone knows the score and no one played silly buggers. All is well.
I could be wrong (probably am wrong) but I thought Hull council didn't want to pay the fees for it to go through? Again this could be bollocks.
Beverley's the closest it's come, Hull City Council didn't want to get involved, though I think they're considering it for next year.
I should imagine this year the council didn't apply because of the C of C. Though previously they didn't because of the cost. Which was ridiculous as it would have brought far more into the city. On that basis nothing which costs money to stage should go ahead. Of course, alternatively, it may only be going through pleasant places inhabited by superior people.
It's 15 seconds walk from my work and can go watch if I want and even though I enjoy cycling I won't be watching as there is nothing really to see watching a road race
It didn't in a previous year. Which I said in another post before reading this is ridiculous. It would have brought in a lot more than it cost. Event he people in Brid involved with staging it were surprised at the number of people that turned up.
It would. But the previous time Geraghty said they weren't applying because of the cost. A short-sighted, and typical, attitude. This time presumably C of C has put the kybosh on it.
You'd think it would go really well with the city of culture though wouldn't it? Another big event etc.
Presumably they thought it would take too much organising at tge same time. On the other hand they might have thought there would still be workmen and orange barriers all over the place.
