Thanks PNP. I didn't realize that for number four, Rose actually passes with his right foot, behind his left. Lovely.
Southampton have decided NOT to appeal against the red card. It could be that they don't want to spoil an open debate and the supposed impression that they were somehow cheated? It could also be that there's not an earthly chance of it being overturned because Redman tried to impede Dele twice without attempting to play the ball on either occasion. Either way, we were going to win the game in any event unless anyone agrees with the oppositions' managers and the media that we are the only top 6 side that only wins games courtesy of bad refereeing decisions?
I suspect that the opposite is true, to be honest. I'm sure that he was all charm before kick-off. Butter them up, tell them they're great and then slaughter them at the end if they rule against you. The message will soon spread.
Which one? The one RCL's kids use as a lavatory, or the one HBIC uses whenever Charlotte Thorstvedt is mentioned?
I haven't noticed the media lambasting Fonte for the 'tackle' on Danny Rose last night that was missed by the ref. I can't for the life of me understand why they haven't!
Fair play to Sky Sports, who appear to be the only media outlet who have highlighted the potential leg-breaker and condemned it as a red card offence. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...anny-rose-in-southamptons-defeat-by-tottenham
I just have to say that I think the refereeing for the penalty was excellent. There is a foul outside the box but the advantage is played and play continues. Then there is another, cynical foul inside the box. The ref blows for a pen then (horror of horrors!) gives himself time to *think* about it, maybe discuss with his linesman to clarify - was Redmond making a genuine attempt for the ball? Did he slip? Or was it just a conscious foul? With the new ruling that red cards are only for when there was no genuine attempt for the ball I can only commend the ref for taking the time to get the decision right. It absolutely infuriates and depresses me whenever refs do the smart thing by taking their time before committing to a big decision or consulting with assistants or even changing their mind and then get lambasted for it by pundits. The pundits who, by the way, make up absolute garbage to pretend that this or that rule is just *so* complicated and the game is in ruin because of all the confusion (I'm thinking primarily of Alan Shearer but I know others do it too). A while ago on MOTD they read out the guideline that a ref can use to determine if a handball is deliberate. It included factors like "Is the hand in a natural position?" "Did the "offender" have time to get their hand out of the way?" "Did the "offender" move their hand towards the ball?" Just really simple, understandable stuff. But Alan Shearer was apoplectic! "It's just madness! Look at how ridiculous that is! How can anyone possibly understand all that?!" This a) shows how ****ing thick Alan Shearer is and b) appeals to everyone watching to join him in his clown car and be proud of how thick they are and how pointless it is to ever try to do anything better or more intelligently. Ever.
The Redmond tackles were a bit Keystone Kops. If Kane had scored the penalty and Redmond did not get a red, that would have been fine by me (perhaps Nemesis was aware of the divot and ensured the red card so there wasn't 30 mins of 11 vs 11 Spursy 2nd half football at 2-1 ) .
