Cheers. Looking at that, the player right behind Wimmer was level anyway, and if anyone was interfering with play, it's got to be him hasnt it ?
Watching it back, Dier can't escape some blame. He was better positioned than Wimmer to attack the ball and didn't even make an attempt to go for it. I'm willing to put it down to lack of experience but a Ledley or a Dawson would've shouted 'mine!' within a split second and would've headed it out for a corner. If Wimmer had known they were offside, he never would've attempted to head it. But by the same token, if he'd known where Dier was I don't think he would've headed it either. That's one of very few criticisms I have of young Eric - isn't nearly vocal enough to play as a defender.
It's a good job he never said that to Dier. After what he done to the Chelsea team, hitting Walcott would be child's play.
And to think some say the old school b-boy died off years ago (this clip is best viewed with It's just begun by the Jimmy Castor bunch blaring out in the background) .
So by the rules, those players didn't actually affect the passage of play as the ball didn't get to them and Wimmer headed it anyway. What I have not read nor heard anywhere is how those players would have affected Lloris's positioning- had he known that those players were not in a potentially goal scoring position, would he have covered the near post. Or as soon as he saw the ball coming into that area as opposed to the back post would he have made a move earlier to cover it and made the save.
There's just too much doubt about too many things. None of the Sky favourites would have been happy with that goal and the media would have kicked up more of a fuss should they have been penalised under those circumstances. But perhaps it would just have been given offside at the time if it were them!
DT gets ever more ranty on ArsenalFanTV. Claude is remaining sane. And Moh (my favourite) . I cannot watch "Blud" ever without medical assistance (ie 30+ surgical staples in my midriff to prevent skin tear due to laughter) .
I dont understand why people are ignoring the fact that the player immediately behind Wimmer had not come from an offside position.
