Just further underlines that we NEED new striker additions. For the registered blind who haven't yet realised. Like MA. Relying on Gayle (unproven at Premier League level but a proven sicknote) and Mitro (proven lacking at Premier League level) is pure suicide. Perez isn't a striker so we need at least two bringing in. Someone fast and lethal is certainly required.
Same **** every time, bad gateway, error at NUFC. Why is our club so completely inept? What's the point in having a steam if no one can log in to it!
Went to the game, Shelvey, Atsu, Ritchie class as usual. Manquillo, Merino and Lejeune really tidy and decent footballers aside from the physical attributes. Rob Elliot looks good to me, his throwing and kicking look strong. I still worry about Dummett at left back, but he played ok. Second half experiment with Ritchie up top and Siem/Perez behind not really incisive, but Murphy and Aarons look like cracking options off the bench. I suspect Merino will cover Shelvey, can't see them both starting as they play the same role, but I'm not as worried about the season after watching the game and the one vs Wolfsburg. A good striker and we'd have a canny side.
I think we'll surprise a few people, pundits, Mackems and anthropologists this season. I can't wait to see Conte's face when we pip them to the title on goal difference.
Sorry but I have to say that I really get sick fed up with the pessimism on this forum. Goal difference? Really?
Just listened to Rafa's post match interview with BBC Radio Newcastle. Despite the win l thought he sounded a bit flat. Hopefully just my imagination, but l don't think he is as happy as he could be/ought to be. Let's hope we have a few incoming and definitely more than a few outgoings soon.
Might have something to do with this http://www.themag.co.uk/2017/08/raf...lubs-official-media-partner-newcastle-united/ Although as the source is The Mirror, I'll take it with a very huge pinch of salt..... (or maybe a bowl of muesli?)
If Rafa's experimenting with makeshift strikers I think I would have tried Murphy up top or in the number 10 position. He seems comfortable through the middle on the little that I've seen of him plus he has good pace.
