  2. He's already putting out statements saying it's bollocks.

This non-story is nothing more than the Murdoch press trying desperately to queer our pitch.

I think Barkley is going to improve under Poch and become a solid player for us.

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley wants £150,000 a week to join Tottenham and the Toffees are demanding £50m for the 23-year-old.

Would be funny as **** if Spurs spunk the Walker money up the wall on him.
They've got history with this sort of thing, spunked £85m up the wall when they sold Bale <laugh>

Everyone goes on about that, but most of those players came good in the end, Eriksen Lamela etc.

Soldado was a bad buy though.

Erikson was decent and he was one of the cheaper ones. Lamela though <laugh> He's a very **** version of Ronaldo.

And Soldado <rofl> Most of the others they ended up selling for a loss.

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier is open to joining Manchester United, who would double the England international’s current £70,000 a week wages, according to The Guardian .

United have already seen one offer for Dier rejected, but are preparing to go back in with a second bid of £50 million as Jose Mourinho seeks a new defensive midfielder.

Don't shoot the messenger son, just relaying news from a more reputable newspaper that doesn't need sensationalism to sell its paper.

Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas said earlier this summer that the wage structure at his former club leaves them susceptible to big-spending clubs looking to "cherry pick" their best players.

Said it before, but this is going to become an increasing issue for Spurs. The Top 4 clubs and their peers around Europe are paying the top players around £250k-£300k per week. Spurs have a ceiling of £100k I think. Players like Kane, Alli, Erikson and Dier all know that they can earn triple what they do at Spurs.

I do not see Spurs being able to keep their best players over the next few seasons unless they smash their wage structure. And with paying for a new stadium this is not going to be an easy task for them. I suspect that like Arsenal did, they will have to employ a youth policy and fight hard to try and keep their best players from being plucked away by bigger clubs.

It could be a problem eventually, I agree.

I don't forsee any other major departures right now, but something will need to be done if we're to compete effectively.

Levy loves a bonus structure, and I think that's the way he'll go. The base salary won't be what others pay, but if goals are achieved, the pay could well be far more competitive.

As to the youth policy, no doubt. We've been on that road for the last couple of seasons. Or more. There'll be others coming through next season. Most notably, Onomah, Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers. The transfer market is getting so ridiculous now that other clubs will inevitably have to follow.
