When you look at the retained list the amount of players staying next season is quite a cause for concern (https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2017/june/player-retained-list-announcement). Looking at recent transfer rumours and reports this isn't really helped either... As it stands our squad is going to have something along the lines of: Mannone, Mika Djilobodji, Jones, Matthews, Oviedo, Love (Even two of these have spoke about leaving) Cattermole, Gibson, Rodwell, Embleton, Gooch, Watmore, Honeyman, Mcnair, Ndong The likes of Kone, Khazri, Lens, Borini etc we assume will all be away shortly! Only Khazri really deserving better out of them imo. Looking at all of that we need to fill out the team quite a lot worryingly, especially up front! Theres a small chance that our new manager (looking like McInnes at this point) will look to offer Larsson/O'Shea contracts to help the team out, especially with the injury record of that midfield! Fortunately there are a lot of freebies available in our current financial state which I would assume we shall take advantage of, such as: John Ruddy Bruno Ecuele Manga Sebastien Pocognoli Charlie Taylor Joe Ledley George Boyd Fraizer Campbell Rumour seems to be that Haynes would more than likely be McInnes first target. As stated on Roker Report also, we could look to Ryan Gauld and Ryan Christie to help fill out our attack also! Wonder what this window will bring!
Will all depend on how much Mcinnes is given from player sales. We should raise a minimum £50m and have got shot of a **** load of wages off the books. It's going to be a busy pre season for sure.
If you think about it the player sales should amount to approx £40-60m depending on how many we sell! Letting the likes of Larsson, Oshea, Defoe go automatically means that our wage bill has dropped significantly I think with the parachute payments and some shrewd transfer dealings we could be in the same position as most premier league clubs financially within a season or two depending on what happens!
It's all ifs and buts at the minute but even the murmurs coming out at the minute indicate that McInnes will have money to spend as well. Even so, I'm not counting on challenging to the league next year, but would expect us to be in and around the playoffs as a minimum.
Yeah same here. I don't get this talk about how we won't be going up and it won't do us any favours, if we do. We need to get back into the Premiership at the earliest opportunity.
Yeah I think the relegation itself will help us as it's forced us to drastically trim the fat and get rid of a load of crap players who don't do anything, and a crap manager, but the longer you stay in the Championship the worse your situation gets.
When was pre season not busy we seem to have had busy ones during and since bruce - groundhog day style. Whats concerning me is will JP's transfer monies (£18 million ??) to be used for team building or as a sweetner for the takeover crew. Worrying it is but nothing new at Sunderland
Exactly if we don't make a good fist of coming up next year it will become very difficult as our championship mindset will start to increase as our finances reduce We cannot be there for long (2 seasons max imo )
let's average 40,000 for the new manager and possibly new owners next season and we will kick off at home remember so a winning start would be great. I will renew now because of Watmore, Ndong(chuffed if he stays) Gooch, Honeyman, Jones, Mannone, Djiboji, Mcnair and Gibson should be ok, and of course Catts we still need a couple of strikers and goal keeper. That's 10 players plus reserves who could come through. There will be about 100 players we will be after though. I would wait to see if we make the top 6, so leave 3 loans/signings alone, Get 3 quality players here in January for a promotion push.
I can see mid table next season and then pushing for promotion the season after personally The turnaround of players will make it incredibly difficult
Pretty sure Sammy or Travelsick has hacked this ^knobhead's^ Account. Not the same skunk who spat his dummy and sulked off for years. He was alright actually, this one seems to have come back minus a few hundred thousand brain cells.
