The Sun has "apologised" for being ****s, again

The apology on page five of Saturday's newspaper read: "On April 14 we published a piece in the Kelvin MacKenzie column about footballer Ross Barkley which made unfavourable comparisons between Mr Barkley and a gorilla.

"At the time of publication the paper was unaware of Ross Barkley's heritage and there was never any slur intended. As soon as his background was drawn to our attention, the article was removed from online. We have been contacted by lawyers on behalf of Ross Barkley, who has made a formal complaint about the piece. The Sun has apologised for the offence caused by the piece. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise personally to Ross Barkley."

So, let's get this straight.

This isn't really an apology, is it? It's a feeble attempt at an excuse.

What these ****s are really saying is, "We're sorry that we didn't know that Barkley has Nigerian ancestry. Had we known, we would have left out the bit about him looking like a gorilla and used a different analogy to express how stupid and ****witted we think he is."

 

I think any doubt whatsoever about the paper being total scum were confirmed during the Hillsborough Trial.

Everton fans already hated them, this just added to the fire.

Every stadium should ban the ****s.

 

Everton have rightly banned that arsewipe rag from all their facilities. I'd suggest that the premier league follows that lead.

They won't, of course. Too much money involved to go upsetting Murdoch.
