Jesus - It's like drawing teeth - you stated that you thought we'd wasted money when we signed him (Past tense) I ASKED you how you could think he had no sell on fee when we signed him (i.e. speaking in the past tense) - you answered with what you think he's worth now. I reckon he'd be a very good championship player - which is why I value him at £5m - poissibly worth more by today's standards all in all.
YeahIt a real shame the mental and physical damage caused at Man City has left him a shadow of his Everton playing days. We have unfortunately been on the receiving end - as I've often posted he needs to regular game time at a lower level - hopefully not here - KTF
I think his confidence has taken a massive hit while he's been with us too. I don't think he's ever been popular and has become a scapegoat. This daft 'record' thing can't have escaped his attention either. Personally, I think there's a player in there if he can get his head right but I don't think that's going to happen in a side as bad as ours. If we do end up going down though, I hope he stays. If we win a few games in a lower division and bring him back into a more confident side overall we might see a different Jack Rodwell. FWIW, I don't think his 'record' is his fault. Its just coincidence- its not like we win every time he doesn't play.
I think hes suffering from the Kevin Kilbane syndrome !! He may be in the right place to get stability but imo needs a different lower level place to improve Others will differ to my view
He needs to be in a different place alright. Anywhere, i dont care. Halifax. Luton. Barnet. Permanently.
I actually think he'll be a star in a few years with regular game time at any of those clubs - but.... not now and not us
It seems to me that he is lacking confidence, he also seems to watch things happen around him rather than put his foot in where it hurts. However he does get forward and in the last few games has had some good opportunities to score. Is there any chance we could do a swap with boring James
I like Jack Rodwell and people trying to put the winless run on his shoulders are just hissyfitting and looking for their scapegoat. 2 of the last 3 games he has played in, he's arguably been our best player and looked our biggest goal threat, bar Defoe. Anybody who hasn't noticed this, hasn't been watching our games. Once he gets that win under his belt, his confidence will come back and we'll see more consistent performances. He has shown glimpses of being a top player, we just need to find that consistency and a win will go a huge way towards that.
Yes and I still do, sorry to have ruffled your feathers. And as I say I hope you are right and I am wrong, we will see.
No one player makes or breaks a team, but based on his value and expectation when we brought him in he has been a massive miss but so has most of the other players.
I agree eh has the potential to be a real decent player, but don't think that will ever happen - he will never get a consistent run of gams due to his constant injury problems. I said at the time it was madness to be spending £10m on a young lad who had spent more time in the physio room than out of it by age 23 - these things almost never get better with age. It's a real shame, as I genuinely believe he could be in the England squad by now without the injuries.
Kane always tore us apart until we signed him then he just did'nt - but in past and best forgotten especially today
