The biggest cockup of the Oscars wasn't the Best Picture fiasco, it was the fact Suicide Squad won something. What a ****ing steaming pile of **** that film is.
They've decided it's too old-fashioned and they're replacing it with a white helmet stunt show. From this... please log in to view this image To this... please log in to view this image
I didn't think it was as bad as most reviews made out. This is based on watching the extended version on blu ray, which is an improvement on the theatrical version I believe. Could be just a fetish on Harley Quinn / Margot Robbie. Biggest disappointment for me in the winners was in the animated film category. How something as formulaic as Zootopia could win over Kubo (or La Tortue Rouge, or My Vie de Courgette) is baffling.
I watched that and totally agree but after watching it my first thought was "thank **** I watched it for free", but then that was tinged with a bit of sadness as I've had to use some of my very expensive electricity....oh !! how I wish I'd used that time to watch my living room paint dry...
Another cock-up, during the montage of people who've died in the past year, they included this (she's still alive and well)... please log in to view this image
Yes, can't organise anything. Well, a successful World Cup, Olympics... Makes you wonder why they don't have the Oscars somewhere where they make loads of successful films and now how you organise things. Any suggestions?
Zootopia is a good film, and does have some themes that are more adult than the usual Disney/Pixar fare. It's definitely not an unworthy winner by any stretch. The best one IMO though was probably Kubo.
It was something to watch. Warren Beatty knew something was wrong so didn't want to announce the winner. He then showed it to Faye Dunnaway I suppose looking for help and she just immediately blurted out La La Land without appreciating what he was doing by showing her the envelope, so the gig was up. Funny really.
A bloke from near where I lived when I was 15 was in the that motorcycle display ream. They only adopted white helmets the year he joined them. A couple of years later he got the first Japanese minor bloke most people round here had seen, can't remember the model name but think it was a Honda 450, the first one that took on the bigger British bikes. Very expensive at the time if I remember.Took me for a time on it and we went round a roundabout and hit some wet leaves on a drain and the bike and him went oneway and I went the other, straight over a road sign and rebounded off a thick hedge. Lucky it didn't happen a few years later when the owners replaced the hedge with a brick wall. He got he to go straight vacs on as he said that was the best way to get over something like that. Wasn't too convinced and found it hard to lean into corners and was mentally pulling the bike back ip.
