Solid Keeper: Forster/Davis/Schmeichal Solid Centre Halfs: Doherty(HE WAS DON'T LAUGH)/Fonte & Jaidi/Naylor etc Creative Midfielders: Holahan/Ox-Chamberlain, Do Prado, Hammond/Snodgrass, Gradel, Becchio 20 goal a season men: Holt/Lambert, Barnard/Becchio, Beckford, Snodgrass ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Relating this to us, if we retain the core of our team we're not far off (especially given the competition in the league) In all fairness we have the strikers; BWP, Benno and if kept Anyinsah are all capable of double figures (40 goals between them next season??) We have the keeper; fair enough he's been dodgy since Christmas but Robbie is one of the best in the league... Defence and Creativity are the main issue... Keep Dailly and Llera and sign two first choice centre halfs to give us a choice of four; I'd like Matt Fry in and possibly Peter Clarke of Huddersfield (maybe give Jose a try??) If we hold on to Racon then excellent (I can't see it though) so bring in Ryan Harley and Danny Green... Wagstaff and Reid on thier day are a threat too (although the SLP report Reid's a goner...) We're really not far off, but it'll take a little bit of spending naturally (that we've been promised) and probably the sacking of Phil Chapple
That to me would be key, he has got to go, this is the guy that reccommended alan mccormack for goodness sake!!
Yes Hondal... Didn't really want to re-spark the Parky issue... I liekd the vital football suggestion posted of John Still
Semedo is simply a must at CB. Imo he's not the answer in the middle of the park. He's far too ponderous in possession and we all too often loose momentum when the ball goes through him. I've always thought he'd make a far better CB... Hopefully the gaffer will give him a go there! I too would love Fry back, but if i were him i wouldn't be in any rush to return to The Valley. He was messed about something chronic and NEVER given an opportunity to show what he can do in his specialist position at CB.
I've seen the Semedo for CB cause championed quite a lot on the 606's lately, and while it's entirely plausible that I've missed it, I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that he was brought to the club initially as a CB before being converted to a CM. Which you would presume our coaching staff would be aware of even if it is Charlton. Point being you would have thought they would have tried him out in training at CB when our defence has looked less than stable unless they simply view him as too vital an asset in midfield.
Is that right 101? In that case why the hell...no, it'll only make me depressed. Saw him play CB once in a terrible game at Hereford in the League Cup - looked completely relaxed and unhurried - we still lost though.
Somedo can play centre back yes but id excellent breaking up play centre mid as for ponderous..he`s quality always has time on the ball ponderous never. He`s absolute quality and MUST stay...ireplaceable if he leaves.
Semedo came to us as a RB... *Poor first touch, *A range of passing that basically consists of him passing the ball no more than 10 yards sideways 99% of the time, *No vision whatsoever, *Ponderous in possession, Mike, You say he's always got time on the ball and your right. Cos he takes too bloody long to make his mine up to make his usual 10 yard sideways pass... Ask yourself one question... What has our club achieved in the time Semedo and to a lesser extent Racon have operated exclusively in central midfield? Imo sweet fa... It's time to try something/someone else!
