It has replaced the fan bases at some clubs - todays fan has become more of a consumer, and so, for them it may be more entertaining, for me it isn't. It's not just a name ie. Premier League or Div. 1 but was brought in at the same time as other changes such as the Champions League, all seater stadiums, lack of restrictions on numbers of foreign players etc. All of that together has changed the game which I love (or loved) - the FA. Cup has been devalued so that the top clubs only take it seriously at the semi final stage. Remember seeing players like George Best at the Vic. (then a third div. ground) in the early rounds of the cup and queuing up for hours for tickets ? My pet hate however is the Champions League.
Burnley seem to be panicking a bit and trying bids for quite a few players. I'm not so sure Wood is PL standard, Leicester tried that a couple of years ago.
Wood does seem to have improved a bit in the last couple of years but I don't think he is any more than a competent Championship striker. Having said that, I have only seen him when he has played for NZ. He played well against Fiji recently, but we still only won 2-0 and the goals came from comical errors. I hope he succeeds if he goes to Burnley, for the sake of the national side, but I don't think he will.
Man U look very powerful and quick this season on the attack. The type of football their fans expect. Swansea do have 50 million to spend now.
With Lukaku they have added power to their pace. They look good. Arsenal same old same old. Lack of clinical finishing. Interested to watch Chelski tonight on MotD. They looked in total disarray last week. Fabregas looked like he was too embarrassed to stay on the pitch so tried to get sent off.
Trouble at t'mill in Bournemouth? https://www.afcb.co.uk/news/club-news/directors-step-down Plus the owner rumoured to be in trouble over 'betting irregularities'.
Really gutted to see City´s late winner. I never had it in for Bournemouth until last game, where it was so obvious they were cheating.
http://www.90min.com/posts/5452656-...th-stewards-after-sterling-s-goal?a_aid=42822 Did anyone see this earlier? Sergio Aguero fighting with a steward at Bournemouth - could find himself in a spot of bother...
Cuteh reckon they've reviewed the cctv of the incident and are confident there is no case to answer, so it would appear that it's not just their players and manager who are guilty of cheating!
It's funny - just read comments about how Ake should have been sent off but on their site it was all about how the ref favoured City.
Ake definitely should have been sent off. The ref had no excuse for keeping him on. If he had not 'seen' any infringement, fair enough, but he did, so it had to be red. Typical Bournemouth to blame the ref that they lost. There was a time a few years ago I quite liked the idea of Howe coming to us, but now I'd hate it. Who wants to win (or not ) like that?
I didn't watch the game, but did some of the text reports. It seemed that Ake had an absolute mare of a game, and I did think at the time maybe saving our £20M was quite a good idea.
