In these long long international breaks, that leaves us bored and restless and desperate for any scrap of new football information to feed our habit before the proper stuff restarts, i have found myself reliving special moments throughout my life, those moments when you become an explosion of uncontrollable emotions, laughter, tears, disbelief, pride, relief etc etc. An injury time winner perhaps, a penalty save from your keeper, or maybe just hearing the refs final whistle. Non football fans will not understand the emotion football can create and whilst it is true that football really is not as important as life and death, there is nothing else in the world that gives you such a (legal) high of intense excitement that even comes close to football. The birth of my daughter is the greatest moment in my life, but the moment she dropped out i didnt jump up screaming and laughing and crying, dancing around like a nutjob with no control over my body, i just stood there with a sense of quiet pride and amazement. So i wondered if you could bottle one moment of your life as a supporter, and could relive it every so often when you needed a pick me up, which moment would it be. I think mine is Malkys Mackays late goal v Wolves in the play off semi final first leg (altho the end to the reading and millwall games recently ran it close) What areyour moments??

You're too right about the boredom of international breaks!!

I've only been a City supporter for 7 years and to be frank it was 5 years of utter misery but it's all been worth it for the last 2 seasons. Whatever happens in the next month or so, the memories have been priceless.
The great moments from 2005 to 2009 can be summed up in odd derby victories and 5-2 against Wolves... that's about it!!
Last season gave us plenty of jump up and down out of control moments: 5-0 at Colchester when Holt bagged our 5th, Chrissy Martin's diving header at the death against Leeds, Cody Mac's winner at Walsall and that late Magic Johnson brace at home to Southend. All topped off by that dogged display at the Valley where we clinched promotion.
This season has just been full of heart attacks (in a good way). From the despair of losing at home to Watford on the opening day; it hurt personally as the build up was huge and my Watford supporting mates came with me to fortress Carra only for me to bare the longest imaginable return journey to Hertfordshire! But a week later Holty scored with the final touch against Scunny and I guess that set the stage for what was to come. Ruddy's penalty save was huge a week later, those 3 points gained could be massive.
Now I realise I'm just going to sum up our season but it's fair to say I have nothing better to do right now and it will definitely cheer everyone up...
Late goals against Barnsley and Burnley were cancelled out by those for Hull and Millwall. Then we really picked up. The memorable demolition of Ipswich must be right up there for every City fan as moustache-man Holt grabbed a famous treble. And then the late drama began: Coventry, Cardiff, Millwall, Reading and Bristol City all provided fist pumping and bouncing for the masses. Right there are 9 points salvaged from the death in only the last couple of months.
Looking back, I'd say any of those heroic late Canary goals. Best live moment for me is Simon Lappin's 93rd minute free-kick at the dump that is Kenilworth Road to win it 3-2 several seasons back. Recently, I'd go for Lansbury against Millwall for the Radio Norfolk commentary which was pure gold closely followed by Holt v Reading and the superb win against Brizzle the other night :)
Just as an aside, I thought it might amuse people, the only game I've been to (other than the opening day) is the cup game v Leyton Orient. It's fair to say I'm going to stay away for the rest of this season!!

Bruces goal is the one that comes to mind for me to.
God how I miss those terraces, when a goal went in, one minute you were a few rows from the back, the next surging forward doing the odd forward roll over a barrier....happy days....

Moment: Iwan Roberts scoring late in the play-off final. Well the result didn't go the way we wanted it to, but purely that moment the atmosphere was incredible

Yep - Bruce against the enemy with only a few minutes remaining in the League Cup semi - just doesn't get much better does it?

I have no idea who the long haired geezer was that hugged me after that until the final whistle but I am thankfull to him because the combined weight made it harder for both us to be 'surged' to the front of the Barclay that night!

Iwans goals at the MS in the Play Off final as mentioned above - the atmosphere was simply incredible and nearly made the long journey worth it.

Other contenders for me would have to include.
    1. Leon McKenzie against Man Utd to make it 2-0. Blinding goal and build up against the then near invincible reds as we were staring at relegation.

    2. Robert Fleck away at Millwall. Last minute winner with a stunning volley from the edge of the box.

    3. Justin Fashanu at home to Liverpool many many years ago - goal of the season. Stunning volley from outside the box

    4. Ryan Jarvis at home to Liverpool, another outside of the box beauty.

For me, there have been many memorable goals, mostly for how good they were but Steve Bruces will always be number 1, it wasn't a 'great' goal, just a hugely important goal at the right time that won our right to a Wembley final :)

Totally agree, even walking to my seat at the Millennium Stadium that day was electric.

paragraphs:huh:? thats a damn good idea. maybe thats why i dont get as many replies as i would like.

Steve bruce v the scummers was a couple of years before i started to support Norwich but it has always beem the moment i wish i had been able to experience as i imagine it was such a momentous moment even stephen Hawkin would struggle to understand it.

Obviously the goss goal v Bayern was memorable, but i remember Mark Bowens goal being more of a jaw dropping shock and for a few seconds i didnt even celebrate, just sat there wondering WTF was happening.

After I previously posted I thought about those 2 goals against Bayern. What a night and still the only English club team to beat Bayern in Germany to this very day I believe!

A few more contenders perhaps would be

    1. Gossy at Elland Road, same season as Bayern
    2. Yousef Safri home to Newcastle
    3. Hucks at home to Birmingham - wonder goal after a mazy 60yard? run

Bayern no longer play at the olympic stadium now so we will forever be the only english team to have beaten them there.forever....muhahahahaha

I had intended this thread to be about more then just goals, but you cant really hide the fact goals are what causes the most excitement, but trying to think of other 'moments'...

1)huckerby being unveiled before the forest game at home after we had finally signed him permanently, great atmosphere at the game, great noise great songs, 12 huckerbys 11 huckerbys 10 huckerybys 9 huckerbys 8 huckerbys 7 huckerbys 6 huckers 5 huck-er-bysss. 4 huckerbys 3 huckerbys 2 huckerbys and a darrent huckerby

Good shout ThaiCanary. I was in the N&P when Safri scored, amazing. And that Hucks goal wasn't half bad either! Anyone remember Simon Lappins freekick against Luton a few years ago, I always thought that was a good one, we're not exactly prolific from free kicks, and it was so so late on.

Not sure how old you are DH, but a certain young Graham Paddon was not a bad dead ball specialist, as for magic moments, guess who scored the very last 'winning' goal at the Kop at Anfield, before it was torn down and re-built - Mr Goss of the Jeremy variety:emoticon-0170-ninja<badger>

GHAMH - Sorry the thread maybe went off track - lets try and redress that balance for you.

Great moments as a Canary fan.
    1. I will give you the unvieling of Hucks - what a night, what an atmoshpere.

    2. Watching Dave Watson lift the Milk Cup in 85 - our 1 and only Wembley win! So pleased I am old enough to have seen it!

The crowd that day, both Norwich & Sunderland, were simply superb. No trouble, no intimadation, no ill will from either set of fans - it was fantastic.

    3. Can not remember what season this was or much about what teams were involved (very, very hazy) - away at Sheffield Wednesday. We took 10,000 and filled up the Leppings Lane end on the last day of the season. If we won, we were up. As it turned out we lost 2-1 BUT Leicester who were our only rivals either lost or drew (to Shrewsbury I think). Sheff Wed could have gone up that season but just missed out so they were quiet. We were quiet before finding out the full time result from the Leicester game. Finally it came through - Leppings Lane errupted. It was amazing and the noise was incredible. The only downside to it was Wednesday fans were all over the pitch, trying to taunt us, so it was not possible for the team to come back on the pitch to celebrate with us :-(

    4. The day Iwan Roberts took revenge on Kevin Muscatt next to the snake pit! and got away with it (top referee)

So, c'mon guys, what (non goal) memories have you got?

    Just thought of another one......................

Going way back, so long ago I can ot remember what season it was - maybe 79

QPR had the chance to win the top league. Last home game of the deason (maybe last game of the season) A packed Carrow Road saw City win 3-2.
A brilliant game and was the first time I appeared on Match of the Day - ran on to the pitch at the end!
My other appearance was behind the goal at Wembley when we scored against Sunderland!

Not quite celebrety status but good enough for me

Not old enough! I can remember back to about 2000-ish. I remember Phil Mulryne not being bad with a dead ball (unless thats a bit of rose tinted spectacles going on there) but since then not really anyone special for a few years. Chris Martin and Simon Lappin of late, but no name stands out in between, although I'm probably missing someone obvious!

I just joined not606 especially to reply to this thread. I have been watching City since about 1965 and this thread really got me thinking.

My first great memory was the FA Cup tie against Man Utd in 1967. I was only young and had a stool to stand on at football so I could see the match. I remember my dad taking me to the match. It was so packed that when we scored I lost my footing on the stool but was kept up by the people all around me. Then Gordon Bolland scored the second. I have never known a longer wait for the final whistle in my life.

Second one was Kevin Keelan. I remember one forward gave him a bit too much attention (cant remember who or match). He was holding the ball in one hand. He then used the other one to take a real swing at the forward and gave him a real upper cut. I seem to remember he just turned round and walked off before the ref could send him off!

Third was the league cup semi final against Chelsea in 1973. I went to Stamford Bridge for the first leg which we won. Then came the second leg at CR. About 200 real hard cases from Chelsea took over the Barclay, nobody dared challenge them (not even the police!). Still that did not matter as we were winning the second leg as well. Then suddenly fog started to roll in from the river and with only 3 minutes left the match was abandoned. When it was replayed the Chelsea fans again took over the Barclay but justice was done we won again.

Have to say though that some of the recent late wins have to be up there in the adrenaline stakes.

Not even close to getting the year right and do you remember how the officials cheated QPR out of the league
Pretty sad anyway if this is one of your top moments
    I could pick QPR 6 Stoke0..QPR 6 Crystal palace 0..QPR 6 Chelsea 0 just of my head from the 80's and 90's
A bit more impressive than doing it to Scunny I think

Ah, but do you not remember the classic game from 1924 when Norwich beat QPR 5-0. Good days.
