Swansea City players have paid for 3,000 tickets + £5.50 food and drinks vouchers for their game at Sunderland. Great gesture.

Deemed to have worked for Swansea. They may have forked out 10k let's say but they have guaranteed their safety in the Prem and great PR

You see Cooper week in,week out. I can only go on hearsay. Would you say Cooper gets a bad press?

No doubt in my mind. I think it's as simple as people loving the solidity of the golden triangle - Green-Bartley-Jansson. And it is solid. But when people see Cooper, they are reminded of the defensive howlers we've had in the last 3 seasons or so. But they forget that it was Cooper getting us out of the jail when the likes of Bellusci, Bamba, Pearce & to a lesser extent Wootton, were putting us in jail! Now when you've got a golden triangle like that, anyone stepping in will not have the same understanding, nor will they have match fitness, so there will be mistakes & misunderstandings. Even slotting in a Bobby Moore in his heyday would cause the same situation. Just my opinion, and I just wonder if he'll replace Bartley if he doesn't sign for us. I would have no worries if he did, tbh.

Well put. I perception was that Pearce and Cooper would be in the same bracket

Nah, Pearce was an absolute tit from day 1. Couldn't believe it when he got the captain's armband. Poor old Tom Lees too the blame so often for him. Didn't blame him when he left. Must have destroyed his confidence & enthusiasm to be the fall guy for such a nob. Don't know of anyone that's got a good word for Pearce.

Totally agree Jock, Cooper would be first choice for the vast majority of Championship teams. He's either had to play with poor players or gets a rare game and is expected to be top notch immediately. Bartley and Jansson have a mistake in them but Cooper gets pounced on if he makes one.

Ok, lets say we had a great right back. Would you rather have Cooper or Ayling at centre back?
