Bet Town are keeking their breeks. What a complete waste of time. Why the EFL want to highlight heir complete lack of nous, never mind authority, is beyond me.
Thanks WJ for doing the research. The stats seem to back up what I was seeing with the naked eye so to speak. Namely that Bridcutt with Vieira or Phillips just didn't work. They played too adjacent to each other and it was only when O'Kane played that we could find the angles and forward movement to bypass teams pressing us. As you noted after Saturday though O'Kane has his weaknesses defensively. He seems to get dragged into the wide areas too often and then we are light in front of the back four which results in shots from distance costing us goals. Your stats seem to show however that that wasn't really as significant as I thought. Also how did my favoured midfield three of Bridcutt, Hernandes and O'Kane do ? If you have time please look up that stat but I don't think there will be much to report back as from memory I can't remember them ever starting a game together.
Easy peasy when you've got the data in front of you! On the 4 occasions they all started together, we won all 4. Cardiff (a), Florist (h), Wendies (h), Birmingham (a). On the 5th occasion that Bridcutt & O'Kane played together, Blackburn (a), Hernandez replaced Sack at half time when the score was 0-0. We won that too!
They worked well against brighton.also norwich game it was viera who went missing first half the game was passing him by.
But isn't that what you would expect of kids, Wakey? Inconsistency, not only from game to game, but within games too? I remember Clayton being exactly the same, but we persisted with him. And the number of times our defensive midfield went missing seems to reflect the over-use of the kids. I'm kinda hoping the experience gained this year will improve them hand over fist, but a pinch of reality tells me that it might be more of the same for another season, given their ages.
Yeah i agree some good points there.so then we need a touch of class in the middle.two good wide midfield men who get stuck in .another forward and a spare center back.five needed is it too much to ask.
Well, Diagouraga's back. My fave DM for a good long while. Like to see him line up with O'Kane, but sadly, I know it's never going to happen.
It's an angle I never thought of. Perhaps Evans will come back if Monk does go. I wouldn't be averse to that. Suspect you might not either.
I wouldn't want Evans back, I felt he did a good job with what he had available and limited spending.
