According to transfer market we have spent £20.1 million on players this summer and have reviewed £19.9 million in sales so we are pretty much even with just a striker needed. We have been linked strongly with Cyriac and Enrich at £2.5 mill and £3.5 mill. On a side note Cyriac's Wikipedia page has him as a Fulham player, he also tweeted last night congratulating Kebano for signing with us.... Maybe a sign?
Is it enough to challenge this season? I'm still not sure. On those dark, cold and wet nights in February, will we have the strength in depth?
Leceister have had a £20m bid turned down by Sporting. Guess we'll have to lower our sights to Carlos Mane after all.
Derby are apparently pretty close on getting Vydra and we've reignited our interest in Chris Martin .... again! As a sidenote, Martin got called up by Scotland this week.
Not that it matters anymore, now that we've got Ziggy, but Daryl Murphy has gone to Newcastle. So the Wonga's have got him and Grant Hanley, who wasn't all that impressive when we duffed them at the Cottage. PS Just for rosc - looks very like David Marshall is going to Hull.
If you're stuck with nothing to do over the Bank Holiday, there always this video clip of "Chris Martin's Greatest Moments" - Could he be the new Bobby Zamora?
Read a piece on Martin this morning that said he could be the new Berbatov - in terms of all that was bad about him attitude wise. Not sure I think this is a great signing - plus he has only scored 4 goals from open play since last October, apparently. Not sure if that is true as I pay no attention to Derby at all but if it is, it's even more worrying. The piece talks about him being a success if he is allowed a role which enables him to circumnavigate a 5 metre radius for the entire 90 mins and it is only when managers unwisely and unreasonably demand that he actually run does the player start to break down.
Hear tell we're in talks with three strikers; Martin, Cyriac and one other (not Gyan). Martin was subbed (by Darren Bent!!) in Derby's 1-0 defeat to Burton yesterday. And likewise Cyriac (by Landry Dimata) in Oostende's 1-0 win over Wassland-Beveren.
Only One Day to go! Loads of stories doing the rounds about those 'three', including who the mystery man "A N Other" might be. Some rumours even go as far as saying someone is having a medical as we speak. Of all the blurb around the two I enjoyed best don't actually belong to us: "Hull have signed Ryan Mason for an undisclosed record fee" - an oxymoron in there surely!? "Wolves are poised to sign Niklas 'Lord' Bendtner on loan from Wolfsburg" please log in to view this image [Suppose if this did happen - a massive 'if' - it would lessen the competition from Wolves for Chris Martin]
Thing I like about Martin is he seems a genuine two footed player, scoring with both feet and has a lot of assists to his name, and scores penalties. We need two strikers but will probably end up with 4 midfielders.. let the circus begin...
The rumours about the medical was that it was Cyriac, apparently had his medical yesterday and will be announced today. He is the one we have been linked to strongly and I believe these rumours likely to be true, one way or another we will find out soon.
"Ambition" thwarted. Looks like Slimani is going to Leicester for £30m. At the same time they've agreed to a transfer request from Leonardo Ulloa .. no, maybe another outside of our bracket. Whatever, Sporting can now afford to pay us the £200k owed on Ruiz and hopefully will be told to do so rather than dump us with another Labyad.
Hopefully Cookie - his stats are good. Unlike the latest one to hit the Twitteratti, Emmanuel Adebayor on a free from Palace. An analytics nightmare so here's a helping hand please log in to view this image
Think Ulloa is very much in our bracket Cottager, in fact him and Cyriac in today would top off a very good day and window!
Sub-Standard.....Emmanuel Adebayor is on the move That's right, #FFC fanshttp://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/fulham-transfer-news-emmanuel-adebayor-set-to-join-cottagers-on-free-transfer-a3333376.html… All the glitter, but none of the gloss - No Thanks!
Thing is, he's on a free transfer so there's no need for him to be signed by the deadline. Reckon it's all smoke and mirrors to take attention away from our real target(s).
Well, it would appear that Mystery Man, A N Other, is not Sergi Enrich despite something like a £4m bid. "El Eibar ha convencido a Sergi Enrich para seguir a pesar de que un equipo inglés de Championship estaba dispuesto a pagar 5 millones €."
