In 1995-1996 David Connolly managed 8 goals in 11 games which is a good total.

NZ - I think the goalkeeper you were referring to was Johnny Cowan. He was an England youth international - I saw him play in the final of the (I think) U19 European Nations cup at Wembley. He had gone through the entire tournament without conceding a goal & in the final England played N.Ireland and won 4-0. In goal for N.Ireland was a certain Pat Jennings.............

Funny how things turned out for them.

Yes, BB, you are right. My memory is not what it was! I should have checked the details before posting. I didn't realise that he was an England youth international. The final you mention says something about Watford's goalkeeping history - not sure what though.

    Just for you, norway:

    Ross Jenkins:

    Crystal Palace --15 ------ 2 ------ 0.13 ------- 7.50
    Watford -------339 ------118 ------ 0.35 -------2.87
    Total ----------354 ----- 120 ------ 0.34 ------- 2.95

I had thought about him previously, but, legend though he may be, his record simply doesn't compare - too many poor seasons at the start of his Watford career.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the goal machine, net buster, fox in the box, that was commonly known by the name of "Dominic Foley".

    If Jesus ever played football...

If you're going to mention Dominic Foley, you must also mention the likes of Scott Fitzgerald!!

    BB :)

I think Luther Missit was fair - he missed loads of goals that maybe he could have scored - but the ones he DID score made up for them 10 times over. I was at the 9-0 v Luxemburg game and always felt he did not get the praise he should have - you have to be in the right position even to miss it and that was his knack - getting in position to have a go. I loved watching him. I started just too late for the Cliff Holton era - so can't compare him

BBW - thought you would have gone for that goal machine NW
