Being reported that Manchester City has stepped in and hijacked our move for the Nigerian lad that plays in the Austrian League. (Sorry can't remember his name) It's stated that he will sign for them and then be loaned out for the season to City's sister club. It's really doubtful that this guy will ever kick a ball for City given his age and the players City have already up front. It stinks really that clubs like City and Chelsea are hoovering up so much young talent simply to keep them out of circulation to other clubs, bar those they approve. It's about time this harvesting and hoarding of young talent was addressed by the authorities.
It's being reported that we've made a breakthrough with signing... Joselu. Guillem BalagueVerified account@GuillemBalague 12h12 hours ago Joselu, close to Newcastle for almost £5m, is a big forward good in the air, but better with mobility.Better goalscorer that he shown lately
I reckon even Joselu would manage more than 4 in the Championship. We're in a lot of trouble, though. Gayle looks like he'd rather just not run and Rafa would rather bring on a second goalkeeper than trust Mitrovic. I don't know a thing about Lucas Perez but he's got to be better than just having nobody.
Its more about getting the players benitez wants to fit his system. I'll be happy if we get Joselu and it's benitez's choice. Would be the first time in years a manager has a squad of players chosen by himself
Miles Starforth@milesstarforth 4m4 minutes ago Understand Stoke striker Joselu's due on Tyneside for a medical today ahead of a move to Newcastle. #nufc
Christ alive, Windy wasn't joking when he talked about surprises. Nobody would have thought this sack of crap would be our main striker purchase. I'm joking, he's alright given where we are and what money we (don't) have. On a side note, why are we the only club not spending against future revenues? This is where it's fallen down for me. Rafa knows we've got one season then can make a fist of it. Whether we survive with the likes of Joselu is anyone's guess.....
Holy ****. I've just seen we're allowed to take Joselu for £5m, because Stoke City have taken on Jese Rodriguez from PSG on loan. Good God how far we have fallen. What reasoning is there we couldn't have taken Jese on loan instead of signing this donkey?
MA wants you to understand - we can't compete financially with juggernauts such as Stoke. If we are judging Joselu as a donkey soley on goal stats, Jese is little better. Obviously Jese is a more exciting signing based on overall profile but I haven't seen enough of Joselu to comment on his all-round play to the level of calling him a donkey. One thing I do like to do is see what the fans of an outgoing players current team have to say about them. It seems Stoke fans generally agree we are getting a bargain at £5million, feel he is a good player and that he should have been given more of a chance by Hughes. Still, unlikely as it seems, I hope we're signing him as our Daryl Murphy replacement and not our only stiker addition.
Reckon too much of a gamble he has had some really bad injuries and has apparently been focusing more on his music career than football.
All we can do is hope, mate. Promising young player, 40 for Real B, 1 app for Real A then a bit nomadic. It's a fine line; he must have some ability, maybe Rafa can get the most out of it. Certainly got to give him a chance, but I worry about the mentality because he moves, moans then gets loaned out, never settles. But maybe Rafa will get him to knuckle down for what is his last chance really. Cannot see us buying him AND Perez, so think this will be it. Maybe Kenedy in, but don't think a 10 or LB is appearing.
It's a shame we can't just go up to Arsenal and make a combined offer for Gibbs, Chambers, Wilshere and Perez. It would strengthen us all over and we could maybe snag a bargain through buying them all at once. We should certainly be speculating to accumulate using guaranteed income from the Premier League TV deal as the guide for what we can spend. The path we are taking instead is far too dangerous.
Yep, 'cos with present speed & course we'll be back where we were desperately buying Townsend, Shelvey, et al. You'd think Ashley would be told this - hey, do you remember the last time you didn't speculate? You ended up paying Jan prices and getting relegated.
We can't always write players off before they are in. We don't really know enough about Joselu to do that. Sometimes it's just about them finding the right club. We are desperate for another CF at least as cover. If Rafa is singing off on it then I'll be happy he's got a plan. It is annoying the when you see Huddersfield picking up Mounie and he looks absolutely quality on his debut and bangs in 2 goals. How were we not on that!?
