How did you fare on the front last night up there ,it was not as bad as 2013 glad to say ,our seawalls are 15 mtrs high at this point .
Nice pictures, when it reaches Roker Terrace is the time to worry, this sort of weather was normal a few years back.
Worked down the South Docks, 50-60's and we used to walk through that stuff 7'oclock in the morning to get to work, after being out all night on the lash.
Roker used to get some cracking storms and tides. My dad lost one of his mates on the pier. Who the **** goes fishing in tha?
Lived in Monkwearmouth / Roker all my life and remember some real extreme weather in the early days. On fishermen, my old man used to say that the deep sea variety were the toughest of the lot, but these lads who fish off the groins and piers around here must run them close.
Im a fulwell lad (you already knew that). The fog horn. The storms. Running the gauntlet along the cat and dogs. Fishing in bonkers weather. Magic
Drove past the cat and dog steps yesterday and it was a rough as I have seen in 40 years, daft buggers standing there getting drenched. Great photos by the way.
