A tough away fixture, we are missing our experienced LB and look to bring in Galloway, Barry or Oviedo to fill this spot for the next 12-14 weeks.

A narrow defeat is on the cards IMO as we don't have a good record at Southampton....they are a good side. Maybe Barry at LB would be the best option at LB here to give us legs in MF

Martinez system relies on the width of the side largely coming from the fullback positions, Baines is going to be a massive loss for 3 months.

Barry could fill in there, but his total lack of pace could be exposed by any decent wideman.

I'd rather see Galloway given another chance for this game.

If we play anything like we did last week, we'll get ****ing stuffed.

Horror show? I didn't think he was that bad tbh.

He was about our only outlet. The only player amongst our midfield 5 who has any decent pace.

Perosnally I'm hoping Gerard makes it for tomorrow, but I doubt he'll risk him.

    Sorry I should edit that....

I hope he doesn't recover from his knock! He offers very little in the defensive side of his game and puts in one great performance in 10 in my personal opinion. Some of our fans, not aimed at you BTW feel we can carry his lazy arse playing with 10 men.

He gets more praise than his performances deserve in my opinion.

I agree about Mirallas, but I thought he wasn't shocking last week, and unless McGeady or Gerard are fit enough to come in, if he's not playing tomorrow we're going to have a side devoid of any pace whatsover, and we'll need a Moyes'eque performance to come away with even a point imo.

I think we can get a draw but with the lack of defensive work we do we are almost guaranteed to concede these days so god knows?

Like you say, opinion(personal)is a funny thing and IMO he was gash last week. Without him in the side we may change our style of play, quickly getting the ball up to Rom and then playing off him with MF runners.

    Who knows

Not Martinez's style to change the way we play mirallas is very hot & cold but when he plays well is one of the best players in our squad. If it is a choice between & Mcgready I would go for mirallas every time. Hopefully del boy will be fit soon and turn out to be the player we all hope for.

It's going to be congested in the middle of the park then, because that's similar to us under Koeman. Cedric Soares could cause havoc down your left/our right though- he does like to get forward.

I think this will be tight. I'm quite interested to see how you do this season without the EL to distract you; and also how playing in it affects our league form.

It'll be a tight one this weekend I;d say. Only saw the highlights saw your game v Watford last weekend but it looks as if the defence is a little shaky like last year but players like Mirallas, Lukaku and Barkley will always cause problems. Hoping for a good game between two sides who both plaqy good footy <ok>

Reckon this will be a good game lads, our defence so far doesn't seem as tight as last year n yours can be dodgy as well so expect goals, would love to see Barry at LB n Mane to target him.

Let's hope Southampton don't turn up for the 2nd half either...

    Lukaku looks great today

Not sure about the Barclay/Cleverly miss though <doh><laugh>
