Should anyone on here fancy taking in a game this weekend, I just thought I'd make you aware of an important game taking place in South Shields on Saturday afternoon. They play Newport Pagnel in the QF of the FA Vase. They have already sold 2.5k tickets (£6 each) and there are still tickets available. Shields are going great at the minute. They've won 18 on the spin, they top their league, and Senor Arca is their captain and CM play maker. The ground is well easy to get to (2 mins walk from Bede metro station), and Bier Morretti is £2.80 a pint. Just putting it out there for youz.....
Yes some of us should, and I've already got my ticket, but you've probably just jinxed it 'cos of the next bit Will you be there ?
Unfortunately not. I booked up to go to Dublin to see Billy Connolly ages ago - and that happens this weekend. Gutted, and hoping for another flood light failure. Never mind the jinx stuff - they don't get enough credit for how things are going
Be great to see JULIO ! again, also Gateshead are at home so a couple of canny matches to choose from. They should have played the F A vase match at the stadium of light, we are not doing anything there unfortunately on Saturday. If they get to Wembley got to go !.
Ive only been to Shields place once and it was for a charity night. I remember being well impressed that the urinals has windows at head height that look out onto the pitch so you don't miss a kick when ya need to nip to the john
So is South Shields mackem or Geordie? I assumed mackem and got rollicked by someone from there for saying so. I told them they had North Shields
I am a Sandy, which is neither or the choices given, but, because I was born within a mile of the tyne, I'm a Geordie, too. A Mackem is someone born in the city of Sunderland (not necessarily a S.A.F.C. supporter) and even though 'Sheels borders Sunderland it isn't a part of the city . . . . it's just a part of the Sunderland area, so we're not Mackems Tomorrow I'll be a Mariner . . . . I'm confused
So we were both wrong? Fair enough. It's become important I get these things right. For what it's worth, I love visiting South Shields. The sea front is lovely. And the Toby Carvery up the road has become a fairly regular haunt.
My non league teams are Ryhope CW and Ryhope CA, but it is good to see Arca still enjoying his football for South Shields..
I do watch the CW more than the CA, but not enough to be familiar with the names of the players. The last game I watched was a couple of months back which was a local derby between the two Ryhope teams.
