I don't disagree with any of that. All we disagree on is that, given the above, I think that's well worthy of a yellow. I think very few tackles don't intend to win the ball except the ones aimed at stopping counter-attacks.
That might have been a yellow - if Diego hadn't got a stupid yellow for opening his mouth earlier. Not a 2nd yellow.
A yellow should be a yellow though, regardless if the player already has one or not. Same with penalties, you often see fouls committed in the box that aren't given because the ref doesn't want to give a pen, but anywhere else on the pitch and he would have blown for a foul
Logically you are right, but do we want to see games with multiple reds and multiple pens given? I think refs have to be careful about sending players off and ruining games potentially.
