To be honest I'd give Pie the benefit of the doubt here and say he is just explaining how things are and not that he agrees with it.

Go and watch Italian or Spanish coverage. See how much time they spend on anything other than Alonso or Ferrari. Absolute zip is the answer.

How many countries, regardless of the sport, show patriotism to their own? Very few will provide a 'neutral' view of a sport. Sky and the Beeb are no different to any other country's broadcasters.

As for the '2007' comment, really? Does someone have to go there everytime 'his' name gets mentioned!?

..because we all know why he has made the statement, I don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to work that out. You raised some valid points, but responses like the one I was responding to are pure fanisim. In relation to foreign coverage, whilst there is bias not to the extent we have - especially sky. I never recall Button and DC getting the level of devoted coverage and often bullshit PR.

In addition (if true) it just shows how misinformed their MI is on who watches and who follows Motorsport. The vast majority support the sport and do not follow in a football fanaticism manner - anybody who has spent regular time with foreign Motorsport fans will testify to that. At the end of the day I made a comment in how I'm disappointed as a British fan of the one sided coverage, I'm entitled to that opinion and it puts me off the sport - A sport that I have watched for 20+ years and and been indirectly involved with. It was not a reflection Lewis - he doesn't control it - just on how detached the likes of Sky are.

To be honest, the variety of opinion on this forum gets less and less each week compared to how it was last season and the season before. In general unless you are pro British or pro Lewis it's almost as if the post is unwanted and it's getting rather tedious. Debate, discuss & share....nah it's the Sky blog now! Even when you not being anti "British" and trying to be constructive it's twisted by WUM's.

Never really understood this argument. What, so just because Spaniards and Italians do something it's the right way to be?

Never said it is right. Just clarifing that it is not just something that happens in Britain only.

If we think it is bad now, the worst fir patriotism was good old Murray. Unashamedly supported British drivers.

really? I don't remember him being that bad, but then I missed UK coverage from '93 onwards so he may have got worse in his dotage. Mansell may have received a lot of coverage, but I don't remember it being at the detriment of Senna, Prost and Piquet.

As to the others, there's a lot more coverage of F1 through various media that wasn't available or widespread then, and the sport is far more commercialised now. Hamilton is the golden calf, so the commercial interests will want to him to have as much exposure as possible. As to the BBC, I don't know where to start with that nepotistic, agenda driven relic left over from the days of the Raj, they've been selling us brand Hamilton from day 1, with 'poor-boy' Lewis and his '3 job' father, they aren't going to abandon him any time soon.
