Unless there are people out there that can suggest someone who patently gives a **** about the club, works hard and adds a bit of desire to the lineup that is available for zero money I'd suggest this isn't a terrible idea.

Good loanees come with requirements - like guaranteed playing time - Mackie is likely to be comparatively cheap and appears happy to be a backup. I think any money that TF wants to spend will be directed towards players that are ours and more likely starters.

 

What's our budget though?

Amidst the endless hyperbole of every match being the worst ever witnessed in X years (until the very next game at least) and relentless calls to sack the manager just so that we can bring in the next sucker to take aim at (and the inevitable high turnaround of players that aren't up to it) it is nice to see a degree of moderate realism.

Reduced wages and a gradually reducing role mixed with an injection of honest, tireless endeavour - sounds good to me.
