Louise Taylor of The Guardian has picked him as her Premier League Player Of The Season. please log in to view this image
Going a bit far aren't they? In Taylor's assessment, what has what he did previously got to do with it? It's Player of the Season, not Journey of the Past Five Seasons.
He's our most important player in my opinion, the one to build the team around next season - if we can keep him! Player of the season is nuts though. And he doesn't look a thing like Kante!
does he drive a Mini like Kante? I think he will be snapped up by a mid EPL team, look to get £10m for him in the clearance sales.
This is obviously ott but he does deserve praise for the way he's impressed in our midfield this season.
Found out something quite interesting about Clucas recently. Bruce was so impressed with him in the pre-season against Chesterfield (Ternant had recommended him), that he asked about his availability, he was told he was about to be sold to Wigan and we pretty much did a deal on the spot to get him to us.
Hes our player of the year, think people are getting a bit excited though to be honest. 10 million and hes anyones!
Louise Taylor also picked Snodgrass (v Leicester) as the goal of the season and gave Marco a mention for best manager (she picked Sean Dyche). The 3-3 draw versus Palace is also her match of the season. To be fair, she is the North East correspondant and we were the best of a bad bunch in the region. Also, biggest gripe for more than one correspondant, kick-off times. "Those Hull City supporters who made it to Selhurst Park on the penultimate weekend performed heroics." Now watch how many ****ing Friday / Monday Night games we get in Div 1 next season. And they will be places like Cardiff and Ipswich.
This won't be popular but it's just my opinion on Clucas, I think he is overrated. I don't see what he does every week that makes people think he's this great player. He's not quick, not strong, can't beat a man, doesn't create or score many for a supposedly attacking player and his defensive work is appalling (if you watch him he runs back but hardly ever puts a tackle in or blocks the cross). He's decent at just keeping the ball ticking over but that's about it from what I can see, which for some people fits into the 'every team needs a player like him' bracket. However for me I like to see players add a bit more to the team. I want to stress I don't have anything against him and I hope he keeps improving and proves me well and truly wrong. He's obviously progressed very well over the past 5 seasons. He's certainly a lot better in centre midfield than he was on the wing. I just think at the moment he has an overinflated reputation and if that means some club is willing to pay £10m+ then I'd snap their hands off.
To a lesser extent, and not with everything you've written, I do agree with you. He is over rated by many, but he has made a very good central midfielder.
I agree, feel as tho I have fallen into some sort of parallel universe lately with all I have read about him , I don't think he's clueless , but he's not amazing either he is right in the middle of that , just decent -if he hadn't come up through the ranks like he has and just came through a premier league academy , he wouldn't get half the attention
I disagree, Sam is an intelligent player who reads the game well and is clever at his ball distribution and holds the team together. We're rubbish when he's not playing. He'd be the first person I'd name on the team every single week.
