I now watch football as a neutral. I refuse to allow myself to become emotionally entangled with any particular club or its players.
St G, you sound like any disappointed lover who states that they will never get entangled or give away their heart, ever again. Until the next time.
Don't listen to Godders. there are only two types of music. Good music and bad music, and those are in the ear of the listener. Cliff Richard was never my cup of tea although I remember being dragged to the cinema by my two older sisters to see Wonderful Life [the film that came after Summer Holiday] and ended up enjoying it. I've also ended up respecting the guy for his talent. Such longevity doesn't come without a big measure of it and he can undoubtedly put a song across. I remember when, back in the late 1970's, when I first heard We Don't Talk Anymore. You can imagine someone who was by now listening to CSNY, Yes, Moody Blues, Stranglers, Clash, XTC, etc... not being exactly engaged when the DJ on the radio talked of Cliff Richard's new single. My first reaction was kind of, Blimey, is he still around.? Then the station played it and I realised he was making a proper comeback. Bearing in mind that he'd already been in the pop industry for over 20 years, and he had quite a renaissance for many years afterwards: Note the TV programme - The James Last Show [I think]. So CR was pretty racy stuff here amongst the blue rinse set. Questionable wardrobe, but then this was the middle of the road stage clothes thing back then.
I'd say that this sort of thing should be directed to the music thread, but even that would be a stretch. Seen article from a non credible source that Groneign(sp) may get a share of any Van Dijk transfer
Sorry about that. I'd got completely sidetracked by the previous posts and forgot I wasn't on the music thread. Oops.
TUT! TUT! I thought you had far more sophisticated taste than to define music in such a simple binary way. The enjoyment of music is a highly personal and subjective experience linked in a complex way to one's emotions and experiences. For me Cliff doesn't hit the right spot but this does:
....and I know it is on the wrong bloody thread but the original comment was made on this one and any way **** all is happening on the football front.
That's a beautiful version, yet another example of people improving on Bob Dylan's original versions.
