This should all be up that heart broken unlucky in love Pompey fan's street who used to come on here with tales of heartbreak and women's football. Come to think of it we haven't heard from him for a while. I hope he is OK.
He's been on here recently enough St.G. I very much doubt if he's wearing a bus in hospital. Look on the Pompey forum.
Ralph appears to be here for the long haul: http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/05/16/ralph-krueger-turned-down-two-nhl-coaching-jobs/ Good.
Whilst everyone keeps pointing out that we are on course for a top half finish and therefore any criticism of Puel is unfair, I believe it is also worth pointing out a rather interesting fact: We are closer (points wise) to Hull in 18th place than we are to Everton in 7th.
Well it's very surprising. It also highlights how it can be misleading to say we have had a good season based solely on our top half finish. I found it interesting anyway!
Another interesting fact is we are closer to Chelsea (66 miles) than we are to Sunderland (277 miles).
Also interesting, the last time we had a real goal drought we brought in a witch Cerridewen Dragonoak to rid us of a curse, time to bring her back?
Haha, in fairness it is not usual to be closer to a team 10 positions away from you than the team above you!
I did get your point, I apologise for being flippant. But the difference between us and Chelsea (44 points) is remarkable for a team in our position. I am surprised we are where we are given the way things have gone.
Blimey, Matt Oakley is retiring. He was one of those players who I expected would retire, then gave up trying to guess when: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39967275
Here are my thoughts from the comfort of my Mallorcan villa (Ha! town house) on the season that has just finished. Proud that SFC finished 8th, then the reality sets in and we realise we are top of a very poor group of teams, bar maybe Leicester who if they had woken up earlier should have finished much closer to Everton. It seems that the atmosphere at St Mary's has turned toxic based on the lack of goals and entertainment meaning that the club could lose the interest and loyalty of several thousand ST holders and regulars, which would result in the average gate dipping below the 30,000 mark. What can be done to keep the faith of those fans? Maybe a change of manager but that is for the board to decide. I believe the most important thing Saints can do in the close season is persaude VVD to stay another 12 months and resist the bids that are going to come down the telephone during the summer months. That way fans may come to think that Saints are not merely a "selling" club. That to my mind is number one priority. Number two, a signing that is going to make people sit up and take notice. That is difficult but maybe the goal-scoring midfielder from Fulham who would do just as well in the PL surrounded by better players. And lastly, get the players to create more space in between and behind the opposition defence thus creating space for the attackers.
