A lower league manager with a lower league mentality, lower league tactics and lower league coaching & substitutions.

    Example 1 -

Hanging on away to Fleetwood (who lost 4-1 at home to MKD yesterday) and Oxford - yet he brings on Botaka with 10 and 14 mins remaining. His substitutions are frequently made too late and with a view to 'securing a point'.

    Example 2 -

Why are we playing 4-5-1 every week ? Powell said 3 years ago that Jacko couldn't play out wide any more - Slade has Jacko out wide. Why are we playing 4 almost identical defensive midfielders in 4 almost identical holding roles? Slade told the fans at the recent Manager Event that he agrees that Foley passes backwards too often. Why did Foley constantly slow down our play yesterday by- guess what - passing backwards? Away from home against minnows like Bury and Oxford you need to send out a message of intent with your line up. Ours scares nobody. It just says that Slade has come here for a point.

    Example 3 -

Why is Magennis constantly so isolated up front? Yesterday he was the only person In the box and frequently lay the ball off to nobody. Again, rank bad tactics because the ageing midfield 4 is incapable of pushing up to support him.

Slade has got to change, and fast. Barry Hearn at Orient might have been pleased with a 17th placed finish and safety every season, but we expect a lot more.

4-4-2 or even 4-3-3 at home to Oldham and Rochdale this week, with Lookman pushed forwards and Ajose or Novak starting alongside Magennis.
Foley or Crofts dropped - they are both sh1t - with Ulvestad doing the leg work Jackson in central midfield.

Holmes, Lookman and Magennis would get in ANY team in League One - it's up to Slade to use them properly else f*ck off.

I really don't think you can sack Slade at this point. I haven't been to any of our matches, so am not the best judge. But it seems that he sets us up too negatively. I would like to see us start a game aggressively going at the opposition.
    Team for Tuesday
    Rudd
    Solly, Baeur, Pearce, Fox
    Holmes, Ulvestadt, Crofts, Botaka,
    Magennis, Lookman

Subs Phillips, Konsa, Jackson, Ajose, Novak, Chicken ****, Foley

Honest question - does anyone know what Slade is trying to achieve ? Because it is lost on me.

My guess is 'make us hard to beat' for 80 mins, then be more attacking along with substitutions for the last 10 mins.

We have still only played well for 30 mins (Shrewsbury) in 9 games !!

I could understand this tactic in the Championship where you are going away to places like Newcastle and Norwich wearing a pair of bicycle clips - but Bury and Oxford FFS ??

Listen to Slade's delusional comments yesterday on player - talking about trying to "control the game" as if he was matching up to Zlatan and Pogba.

The guy is a lower league grubber.

We should be sticking our chests out when we go to these dives, and attacking with two wingers from the first min.

We will get around 55-60 points this season under Slade, and finish about 9th.

    Sh1t.

50p for the taxi - and you had better make it a 6 seater.

A poor man's SAm Allardyce. Not getting the best out of our best player, Lookman, who dropped deeper and deeper to look for the ball and could eventually have cost us a goal trying to dribble out of defense. Mola's value won't increase under Slade, because Slade is too negative in his approach, and hasn't got the abilty to improve the more talented ones. Although he has brought in players who are quite good at closing the opposition down it's not a pretty sight. Our goal was gifted to us, whereas Oxford's was a cracking counter-attacking move. I don't think even our most docile fans will stand for this type of fare much longer. If he's going to persist with 4-5-1 he needs to show some attacking intent in his set-up.

There's no point in going 4-3-3 as he won't know how to set that side up. He's a dinosaur.

Honestly, if we don't take 6 points then I'd be looking to dismiss him. The only argument against that would be we need stability, but you'd also then be accepting to another season in league one.

Stability under Slade = eternal mid table in League One.

He won't be sacked, Roland likes lower league mediocrity, its what he's used to, whilst "the woman" is happy as it allows her to draw a pay cheque every month. We already know they don't give a hoot to what the fans think.

I'm not impressed with our start, and Brussel's record suggests he has started as he means to go on. There was a club statement after relegation that we would try to bounce back at the earliest opportunity, whicj I took as being this season. I assume Russ never heard about that.
The miserable truth is that we can't really afford another sacking, yet as Royston says, the stability we heard Russel might bring looks like being mid table mediocrity.
Not sacking time yet, and I hope we may come out of the changing room like lions tomorrow. But our manager seems to have a definate game plan, and promotion is but a minor side show in that.

Have to say in Slade's favour that in his time here we haven't bought in any expensive Euro-duds like Naby Sarr or Peter Parsley. Mind you we haven't had anyone as hilarious as Monsieur LePoint.

A big 5 days coming up for Slade - eminently winnable home fixtures against Oldham and Rochdale.

6 points gets us up the table, even 4 is not good enough.

Interesting reports today that Aston Villa's new owner is already on the verge of sacking Roberto di Matteo.

    Just saying...

Villa spent millions on quite a few players. Amount they put in you'd expect a return!

Problem is Derby are in the same pot. Realistically only Norwich and Newcastle will go up automatically.

The OS, and CAFCPlayer have stopped publishing Slade's press conferences, at least for the last 2 games. It seems odd, it's something which has always happened, especially odd at a time when the senior management team are trying to give the impression that they are trying hard to communicate with the peasants. Has Slade gone all defensive? (I don't mean his football).

Out of interest, who do you all think we would get in? Slade was the only one stupid enough to take the job in the first place. Do you think they'd go back to network sh1te? I actually can't see them doing it strangely enough, they'll give someone like Clark his first job instead.

He's clearly not good enough. Dread to think who would come in next.

Just back from our worst performance of the season. Comprehensively outplayed and out passed by Oldham for 90 mins. Only one shot on goal for us prior to sub Lookman rattling the bar.

Tactics again confused and negative , with our team being booed even when in the lead.

Our midfield is an abomination - bastard child with parents Meire and Slade. Both Jacko and Crofts awful but subbed for ....Foley FFS

Attendance no more than 6000 and a truly pitiful sight on and off the pitch these days.

Right up there with Peeters, Luzon and Fraeye

It could get tasty if we don't win on Saturday

It is now obvious why Slade has had such a modest managerial career, but why smaller clubs like Orient will have a demand for his services. He knows how to set up teams to nick draws and thus stay up. He does this by playing very cautious, negative and boring football, sitting back at all times and waiting for the opposition to attack. Disagree? Fleetwood, Wimbledon and now Oldham have totally out-footballed us recently. Slade waits for things to happen. He is utterly unable to influence a game via his tactics or substitutions.
