I thought that if other, more boring races had one of these, then this race deserves one too Best Driver: Worst Driver: Best Rookie: Best Team: Worst Team: Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result: Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Special Mention: Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: ?/10
Best Driver: Sainz, Pérez Worst Driver: No one, not even Kimi Best Rookie: Sainz, Nasr Best Team: Force India Worst Team: None Best Overtake: Ooh, I'm going for the Sainz and Ricciardo tussle, not so much an overtake per se Most Surprising Result: Pérez's podium Least Surprising Result: Lewis wins, Sainz's car fails Funniest moment: Horner in the humble corner Excuse of the week: see Kimi's post-race interview Special Mention: Valtteri Bottas Best post from the race thread: Dhel, from page nine* Race Rating: 7/10 * Spot-on, Dhel Edited because I totally forgot about Nasr! I wonder why Sauber got no TV coverage? Hmm...
Best Driver: Massa or Bottas or Sainz or Perez Worst Driver: Hulkenberg Best Rookie: Sainz Best Team: Williams Worst Team: Manor Best Overtake: Vettel on Kimi Most Surprising Result: Perez Podium Least Surprising Result: Hamilton Win Funniest moment: Brave Russian on the track Excuse of the week: I overtook him at the same corner a few laps before Special Mention: Sainz Best post from the race thread: Nothing stood out Race Rating: 7/10
Best Driver: Perez Worst Driver: Stevens Best Rookie: Nsar Best Team: Ferrari Worst Team: RedBull Best Overtake: Vettel on Kimi Most Surprising Result: Honda Least Surprising Result: No racing between the Mercs Funniest moment: Brave Russian on the track Excuse of the week: Red Bull doesn't suit our Brand (Merc) please log in to view this image Special Mention: Nico Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Battle-scarred Bottas and 'Preservation Man' Perez. The later was fortunate to be on what should really have been Bottas's podium; but he did a very impressive job to be in contention right up until the end. Worst Driver: Räikkönen had done well until he went mad. That said, he was never quite on his team-mate's pace. I'm nominating him because he single-handedly destroyed Bottas; an innocent victim who had driven so well throughout. Best Rookie: Sainz; not least for his determination to be back on the grid by Sunday. Best Team: Williams and Force India. At the beginning of the season, I very much doubted the latter could sustain such impressive early pace. Worst Team: Pound for pound, it is surely Red Bull who continue to punch well below their deep pockets. Best Overtake: Bottas on Sainz. Most Surprising Result: Rosberg's rare mechanical problem. I believe it is very similar to something I've experienced which I thought was almost unique. Least Surprising Result: Joint equal: Hamilton's win was matched by Räikkönen's randomness whose continued hot and cold blowing has become predictable. un-Funniest moment: I was horrified to see that guy rushing onto the track to recover debris. I do not know if he was authorised by race-control, but I doubt it. It was not at all funny. Excuse of the week: Anything Horner said. Special Mention: Bottas: commiserations. McLaren: is something finally improving? Sainz: when your brakes fail, nurse the car home or park it. Best post from the race thread: Probably Dhel's reference to Horner (as mentioned by Max, above). Race Rating: 6.8/10
Best Driver: Massa, Alonso, Nasr, PEREZ Worst Driver: Stevens, Mehri goes away for a while and then thumps him. Cant wait for decent drivers in the team Best Rookie: NASR Best Team: Force India Worst Team: Red Bull Best Overtake: Vettel on Kimi Most Surprising Result: Kimi... Racing? Least Surprising Result: Rosberg car failure when in the lead or close to Hamilton. Always happens without fail....or fail. you know what I mean Funniest moment: Horner vs Jordan Excuse of the week: Putin was here to watch the race...(he was signing deals with rich arabs) Special Mention: Sainz. he showed some guts Best post from the race thread: BLS's post from Alonso's pit radio Race Rating: 8/10 It was a race!!....It was a race!!
Best Driver: Bottas Worst Driver: Kimi Best Rookie: Sainz Best Team: McLaren for at least not cocking anything up. Worst Team: Red Bull (but no because of the drivers) Best Overtake: Bottas on Perez Most Surprising Result: Both McLarens finishing in the points (albeit not the official race result) Least Surprising Result: Hamilton Funniest moment: Alonso's response to his mechanic's "sense of humour" Excuse of the week: Kimi "he-should-have-seen-me-coming" Raikkonen Special Mention: Perez and also Sainz for his guts Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Perez Worst Driver: Raikkonen by a long way Best Rookie: Sainz has now lost 32 points down to the car breaking... Almost 3 times what he actually has! Best Team: Mclaren? Should have been double points barring the stewards hating on Alonso. Worst Team: Ferrari, simply for having Raikkonen drive for them Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Perez podium Least Surprising Result: Mclaren has to have a massive grid drop Funniest moment: Alonso on radio about fighting Massa Excuse of the week: "He turned in on me" Crykkonen Special Mention: Sainz, the 5th or 6th time this season that his car has let him down while in the points. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 5/10 - Last few laps were good, but the start was terrible.
Best Driver: Massa, started 15th finished 4th, edges it from Perez. Worst Driver: the ice man, he got too hot and turned into a puddle, it was the sort of move you make on someone when playing F1 online whilst drunk Best Rookie: Nasr Best Team: I really don't know. I guess an FI podium should get it, but without Kimi's madness and Rosbergs failure he wouldn't have been anywhere near. Worst Team: When no one else has been really really bad, you have to go Manor, Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Perez, though should expect him to be good on tyres, he's one of the drivers who may really benefit from the "open tyre choice". Least Surprising Result: tbh, Kimi. He's made quite a few race ending mistakes this season, and not just for himself, he's been worse than Maldonado Funniest moment: Alonso radio message when told he was racing Massa to the end. Excuse of the week: did Kimi really try to justify his move? Special Mention: Bottas, had nailed on 3rd. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 7/10 (i only saw the 2nd half)
