Great play by Bowen down the left touchline set up the goal. Theirs was a good reply, really good header. Both our CB's off injured. I like the look of Curry who came on as a CB. Strong left foot. Always a bonus to have a left footed CB. Booming long passes. CF Edwards is a big lad and looks a handful. Some neat touches. Olley disappears, good player but doesnt do enough. Bowens got real promise. Gk kicking was poor. Batty played a couple of superb balls. decent game all in all. 1-1 The lino went off injured!! Calf strain
What's happening with Josh Tymon? Not in the U21's and not in the first team picture. Is he floating around somewhere in between?
U21s Report: The Tigers 1 Charlton Athletic 1 Ben Clappison’s first goal of the season was enough to earn the Under-21s a share of the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at the KC Stadium on Monday night. Clappison opened the scoring early on in the game with a neat finish from Jarrod Bowen’s pull-back, but the Tigers were pegged back by the Addicks, who had secured the U21 Professional Development League Two South league title earlier in the day with both Cardiff City and Millwall failing to win their games, as Josh Umerah looped a header over Rory Watson just eight minutes later. Despite being the better of the two teams in the U21 Professional Development League Two clash, the Tigers couldn’t find the all-important winner as the points were shared. Tony Pennock made two changes to the side that lost 1-0 away at Cardiff a week earlier. Trialist Jonathan Edwards started up front in place of Ben Hinchliffe, whilst Tyler Hamilton replaced Will Annan on the right. The Tigers were ahead after only 10 minutes when Bowen did well on the left and pulled the ball back for Clappison to place a low shot past Charlton keeper Dimitar Mitov. However, the visitors were back on level terms just eight minutes later with their first chance of the game as Josh Umerah met a cross from the left and looped a header over Rory Watson and into the top corner of the net. The Tigers lost Harvey Rodgers to injury on the half hour mark and he was replaced in the centre of the Tigers’ defence by Adam Curry. Charlton had a great chance to take the lead when Brandon Hanlan was sent through but he was unable to beat Watson, who then saved easily from Joe Aribo. Dan Batty’s corner was then met by Edwards but he sent his header just over the crossbar before another Batty corner ended with the ball in the back of the net, only for the referee to rule the effort out having already blown his whistle for an infringement. Charlton immediately broke to the other end but Umerah blasted his shot past the angle of post and crossbar. The Tigers started the second half well but shots from Edwards and Hamilton were easily saved by Mitov before Olley and Edwards both had efforts blocked by the Charlton defence. An Edwards’ flick then sent Olley racing through on the right channel but his shot was beaten away by Mitov at his near post. Olley and Brian Lenihan combined down the right and the full back’s cross was met by Hamilton, but he fired a good chance over the bar, before Pennock lost the services of a second centre-back on the night when Clappison limped off to be replaced by Ellis Barkworth with 17 minutes remaining. The Tigers continued to press for the winner, with a superb pass from Batty creating a chance for Hamilton, but he could only drag his effort wide of the target. Bowen was handed an opportunity to be the matchwinner six minutes from time when he was brought down 25-yards from goal after an impressive solo run. The winger picked himself up to take the set-piece, only to see his effort blocked by Charlton’s defensive wall in what was the final chance of the game. The Tigers: Rory Watson, Brian Lenihan, Josh Clackstone, Dan Batty, Harvey Rodgers (Adam Curry 30), Ben Clappison (Ellis Barkworth 73), Tyler Hamilton (Will Annan 90), Robbie McKenzie, Jonathan Edwards, Greg Olley, Jarrod Bowen.
