The brief club statement sounds as though there is a lot left unsaid. Call me old-fashioned, but after the achievements of the first half of the season I'd expect a little more appreciation unless there had been a serious falling out.
I go along with this article: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ue-sanchez-flores-watford-departure-explained
I love the quotes: "Ray Wilkins, who as assistant to Gianluca Vialli at Vicarage Road had a close-up view of what remarkable underachievement looks like..." and "[the Pozzos] appear to know more about successful management than Ray Wilkins". Of course, he has personal experience (and not just a close-up view) of remarkable underachievement in his own managerial "career". ****er of the highest order (and that is not masturbatory praise!).
Lets give him a good send off then move on to the next exciting episode. Trust in Gino......... (Pozzo, not Washington from the Ram Jam Band!!!!!)
A good article from a source of usually interesting journalism which may not exist much longer as a broadsheet, more's the pity. It's of course true that there's no room for sentiment in football management, though I'm old enough still to feel individuals could be treated with more generosity (in terms of what's said about them rather than financially). Let's hope the article's author is right in his belief that a different individual can be both radical and successful in evolving the complex group that is a football team.
Well more fool him then! Mind you there haven't been mass protests or people ringing in the likes of 606 so he wouldn't know I guess.
I wonder why he thinks he's qualified to make such a statement. To me, he's just another example of a self-important idiot who thinks that small clubs have no right to be in the elite league - and, now that we're there, we should only ever put up with mediocrity and be thankful for it.
And he'd be far too young to know anything about Cliff Holton and the furore/resentment that his departure caused.
Just a thought - after Udinese's abysmal end to the season, losing at home to relegated Carpi and avoiding relegation by a solitary point, I wonder if QSF could be off there to sort out out their defence/
Troy doesn't seem that impressed. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/watford-skipper-troy-deeney-slams-7979574
I think that Troy is being diplomatic - after all he couldn't very well turn round and say that the sacking was deserved - otherwise he'd be branded a trouble-maker. I'm sure that the Pozzos really know what's behind Troy's statements. And the Mirror, that cuddly red-top, has painted it in the worst possible light.
It was shown on MOTD (before the Danny Murphy comment) and it was said with no anger and with a smile on his face.
