So we are now in the final furlongs of the season and with tonight's draw at Southend it looks as though we are destined for the frayed nerves and bitten fingers which resonate with every fan who has experienced the play-offs before!

The question is, can we makeit through the play offs as we have done so well in previous years?

I personally think we will play Shrewsbury in the semi-finals and then lose with Rotherham getting promoted in the end....

    Thoughts?

Another thought i had looking at the table tonight is that large gaps are starting to appear and I would put a bet on the final 2 clus being the same, the top three and the playoff positions all being the same as they are now i.e. the same clubs occupy them...

  2. cant see us catching wycombe now so yes it looks like the play offs. but with rotherham and vale of the boil I think we will make it to old traford against shrewsbury or perhaps a late outside like accrington coming through.

I think a slight gap is starting to open up behind us, just outside the play off places, some results have been going our way below us.

Although the auto places seem to be getting further away with the constant draws.

The play offs are a complete lottery, so would much prefer the auto route but we are going to need a consistant run of wins to get there, sadly time is running out.

I think before we plan the playoff opponents we need to reach the playoffs.
Yes we are there at the moment but still ten games to go and we're fast becoming draw specialists.
Accrington are one of the in form teams at the moment and beat Wycombe away, lets concentrate on winning our remaining games and then plan for the playoffs.

Play offs it must be by the looks of things. I just can't see us winning probably 8 of our remaining games to get into the autos :(

We must keep Bayo fit if we even have a chance, anyone know why he went off? Apparantly he took a knock to the head but no official word that i have seen.

apparently Bayo will definitely be back but we seem to be nursing many walking wounded and I think that at this late stage of the season many players are knackered! This is one of the advantages of having points in the bag as it gives our players time to get refreshed whilst other teams are running themselves into the ground completely

I think we will get a lot of twists and turns before this sorts itself out, hopefully some of our numerous chances will start to go in and start us on another winning run of 4 or 5 games. Whilst we are in the driving seat (points in the bag) we must avoid the mistake of thinking we're safe with easy games to come, loan players and teams fighting for survival are still going to have a large effect on the final places.
This is a time when we need to be confident that we are good enough, yet focused enough to keep our eye on the ball, finger nails can always regrow during the summer.

If Bayo is still unwell today (Thursday), I would not risk him for Saturday's game - we have an important run in, so give the guy the rest he needs now.

No disrespect to Accrington but if we cannot manage without Bayo for one game that is home advantage, then that would be concerning.

Accrington are on a run including a win away at Wycombe (something we couldn't do)
Just hope the players use the 7 goals earlier in the season to spur them on.

Yeah, I would agree that Accrington are on form, they are currently a top six form side home & away, although I believe they caught Wycombe at the right time.

Accrington have achieved 3 wins away from home but they have had 9 draws away this season!

Please not another draw, come on tell me this is not happening, this is Accrington we are talking about <laugh>

They are 3rd in the form table over the last 6 games, including wins against Wycombe, Crewe, Torquay.:emoticon-0118-yawn:

Sounds like a good game to win.

i reakon we will get in play-offs not automatic it is a shame because if we hadnt of had to do it the gills way and start like we did we would be top of the league
we r definatly the best team in the league but we always have to make it harder for ourselfs but we r goin up bring on rotherham or shrewsbury
cant wait for us to be back in league 1

Beating Accy is a good start, Rotherham and Chesterfield away are both going to be tough but that still leaves us 7 games, 21 points to play for.
That would give us 77 points and a playoff place, anything we could get from Rotherham and Chesterfield would be a bonus.

i reakon if that is if we could go unbeaten for the rest of the season we could creep into 3rd but that will be if we could become invinciable
