Pre season friendlies

I watched the friendly last night against Luton. We won 1-0 thanks to a late Mahrez goal.

I thought Iborra, McGuire and Ndidi had very good 1st halves. McGuire did make 1 mistake, where he ducked under a ball to let it run through to Jakupovic, but made an excellent recovery to clear the danger.
Musa played 90 minutes and I thought did okay.

 

I've not seen the goal, any good? Usually they are from Mahrez.
I've heard the young lad Johnson did well when he came on too but more likely to be a centre back than right

 

Johnson did nothing right or wrong - the defence didn't really need to do anything.
Agreed Maguire looked very good
Also though that without Drinkwater no other midfielder could make us tick or dictate the pace of the game.
Elder made mistakes but looks like he has a future, maybe in 2 years time.
Musa was frustrating as normal
Mahrez is very good...

It's the wrong direction for me, before last summer we had a few seasons where we played Rotherham pre-season which is my most local club now. If you're Leicester based or south of Leicester though these ones are really good pre-season games to go to.
I'm hoping Barnes gets a run out in the coming games, good to see the young lads getting mixed in with the first team though

Shakespeare confirmed yesterday that Barnes has gone to an U23's tournament in France as he'll get more game time.

Ah ok. He'll probably get loaned. Hopefully to a good championship side and come into the fold next season

 

Is a cm? Or behind the strikers? Without Drinkwater we have very little creativity in the middle of the park

 

I already mentioned previously I'd love him to get in the team this season as from what I can gather, he is very much attacking midfield whether as a number 10 in the middle of wide (think he played wide left for MK a lot of the time) but I suspect he will get loaned. I'm not sure he'd play cm in the CL conventional way ala Drinky but as he's young it's the best time to get him comfortable there. If he has the physically presence I can't see how he wouldn't manage

Ulloa should have done a lot better with a free header after a great cross by Lawrence.
