yes its a great sight. saddest is Super Clive. i was told he had to sell his play off medal for peanuts just to get by. think he always had an issue with the drink and early retirement no doubt pushed him further into that abyss. best of luck to him though.
Thanks for drawing my attention to this interesting site. Needs a lot of work updating. Much information has appeared on the Charlton club site which is not here, but I guess it is a fulltime unpaid job for someone. I'm not volunteering although I am retired! Some sad stories there about premature retirements through injury and solid pros who went off the rails once they left the game.
Steve Claridge "has retired several times over the past few years" - priceless. Thanks for the heads up SiG, it's a wonderful site, although sad to see the ultimate fate of some of those players who so richly entertained us in years past.
OMG - just had another look - where on earth did they get that picture of Killer wearing white knee-highs and playing golf? Laughed a lot.
Scott Minto - works as an unpaid driver for a Rotherham hospice. Priceless. If this is made up then it's quality. Imagine the conversation: 'Hi Scott, it's your agent. Sky want you on Soccer Saturday to cover Man U Blackpool'. 'Sorry, agent. I'm driving Mrs Smith and her friends to Aldi...they're out of Cif and sugared almonds' Surely not...
I was once in an intimate conversation wth a female colleague at a works drink and the conversation got round to football - and before you ask, she steered it there, possibly as a defensive measure - she said that she'd been to The Valley a few times. Eager to ingratiate myself with this lovely creature (at least that's how I remember her - I'd had a few) I told her I'd was a regular visitor, a season ticket holder in fact and asked her why she'd been attracted to Charlton as she lived nowhere near the place. The answer was quite simple - "Scott Minto's legs". Can't think why, but I suddenly lost interest...
