never in doubt, glad it's announced, we will now have a £12m defender for £3.5m .. While we'd all love to see huge chunks of cash about, ye gotta say this trial to buy system Cellino uses has worked very well for us. There's no way we could have risked 3.5 m on Pontus straight off. Fair play to the negotiators. Of course the selling clubs must be willing to play ball too. Great job all round on this one
Sometimes I hate it, other times I think what if we had brought the likes of Grimes for £5m, to be honest, this is probably the first time it has worked but that is probably down to supporting Monk. The fIrst season we did it I thought it was a disaster, nobody really trying and a load of foreign lower league players. Guess you have to take the good with the bad, maybe the success on the field is leaving some of us (me included) with nothing to moan about other than leaving our transfer day dealings until the last minute. When I compare that to previous seasons and how we always sold a best player at the last minute then listened to an owner telling us it left them no time to replace them... I shall have to remember this and moan less... When are we buying our ground back
Not too bad a signing. Will be in contention to start on Sunday. Still not certain of a starting spot.... Yeah right!!! Potentially the best CB we've had in years. Depending on which division we're in next season, he could take over as captain. All in all, a good day

I have a problem with this as we were due to sign him last week but obviously never had the cash. This meant a deal with Torino which is not worth the paper its written on in reality. If Pontus breaks a leg or does an ACL you know we will walk away from the agreement. Likewise Pontus thought he was signing and what happens if he gets a massive offer from a big Prem outfit, loyalty is a 2 way street and we have left him hanging. We have done nothing as he already had a deal to the end of the season, the deal was play 22 games then we buy him. Could also be the reason Monk is pissed off because somethings wound him up

We were never going to sign him in Jan, we will have pid a fee to loan him for the season. You can buy players anytime of the year they just can't play for the club until a transfer window opens. Slightly different here as we paid to loan him for the year, then we will pay to keep come the end of the year. Easiest fiver ever this one.
