http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40359262 He talks mostly about the SKILL changes the players had to get through to make the game what it is today, such as the goalkeeper no longer being allowed to pick up back-passes. But he doesn't properly address the fact that the idea of 30-minute halves with stoppages is an idea being borrowed heavily from basketball, and for fans of football, we all know how tedious it is to watch basketball where they stop play every 2 seconds at the end of every half to manipulate the foul count and buy time to shake up the opponent - and we can't have that in football, it will absolutely kill the flow of the game. Who's going to be on top of time-wasting after the ball goes out of play when the clock is stopped? - players will drag their feet to take a breath and not put throw-in back in play right away, as that would then become a clever part of the strategy of the weaker team to not let the stronger team dictate the flow of the game, or to stop their heavy offense in the middle of the match. And what then - are they going to brandish yellow cards for time-wasting, when the ball went out of play and they have already stopped the clock? How can they penalize a player for taking a breath and having a drink of water when the clock is already stopped? etc etc.... It's bad enough that Hockey (that's real Hockey to you Yanks, or Field Hockey and not Ice Hockey that you call Hockey lmao) has been usurped by similar rules changes and made into 4 quarters and not 2 halves. Took the beauty away from the game which was basically football played with crooked sticks. Nevin is a moron
